Hello Softball Friends and Family! Here are some important dates for the upcoming Zachary Youth Softball League season and some recent developments:

• In-person registration was at the Youth Park on Saturday February 11th so please register on line. The league must have a copy of the player's birth certificate before practicing with the team.
•  We will not have uniform try-ons during registration this year - we'll do that with the  individual teams.   
• There will be two coaches meetings to cover the rule book and required ethics training: Thursday February 23rd at 7 pm and Saturday February 25th at 10 am both at the Youth Park in the Park Director's Office. Any adult (must be 18 or older) who will be in the dugout or on the field must complete ethics training and must approve a back ground check (see the Handouts page for the background check form).
• The League needs more coaches and divisional coordinators. Please contact Jason if you are at all interested in helping this year.
•  Player evaluations ("try outs"; we don't like that term because ALL players will be put on a team, we do try outs just to see if we can even out the talent across the divisions) will be at the Youth Park on Thursday evening March 1st 6 pm to 8 pm and Saturday morning March 3rd 9 am till noon.  
• Drafts for teams will be done during the week of March 5th. The exact dates, times and places will be announced later.
• Opening Ceremony and first games will be on May 24th at 6 pm. All teams are requested to be present; if not playing that night please wear your team shirt and come on the field for the event.
• The ZY Softball League will play USSSA this year. You will see practically no difference in the rules verses previous years (here's a link to the rule book: http://www.usssa.com/usssa/usssa-general/2011FPRules.pdf.). This change simply has the advantage of better insurance coverage and easier access to rulebooks.
• The Annual ZY Softball Tournament will be PRE SEASON this year instead of mid season. The dates are pending at this time so stay alert for announcements.
