Zebras Extend Vacation
It's become quite apparent now, that we weren't resting up for the Red team. Another very disappointing performance, this time against a very talented team, led to a lopsided 39-0 loss for the effortless Zebras. I think it's apparent that the better team won, but not 39 points better. They blocked better, they ran harder, they tackled harder, they most certainly wanted it more. We haven't played like we wanted it for about 3 weeks now. We let the trash talk from our Zebra "friends" beat us before the game started.
We had a great season, we played hard early, we just need to learn to finish the season playing hard. Keep your heads up and Don't forget how much it hurts to go out like this.

White Prevails in Owasso
The White team defeated the Owasso Rams Red team by a score of 6 - 0. It was another lackluster performance plagued by penalties and very low effort. I hope this means we're saving our energy for the red team on Thursday.

Zebras Take Thumping From Jenks Silver
The Jenks Silver marched straight down the field after the opening kick-off to start what would be a long day for the Zebras. After scoring on their first posession, the Jenks team recovered an onside kick and scored again. After yet another kickoff, the Zebras fumbled a couple of plays later and quickly found themselves down by 3 touchdowns. The Zebras did make a run in the second quarter but once again lost the momentum. The performance by the Zebras would have to be the worst I've seen from this team. The final score was 29-18. It will be a VERY SHORT postseason if we don't find a way to stop the bleed.
Zebras you are much better than you showed this week!
I don't have any pictures this week, my battery was dead when I got to the game. It's probably a good thing, this game wasn't documented

"Make Somebody Cry"?
Despite the urging from the Haymaker sidelines, there were no tears from the triumphant Zebras, as they marched to a 21-6 win over the Haskell Haymakers. The Zebras executed, for the most part, very well in the victory. We are still struggling with senseless penalties however. The Zebras had two big plays called back on penalties that were a considerable distance from the play action. These are mistakes that can be very costly against better teams. As we get into the post-season, a big play called back can mean the difference between winning and losing. The White defense had only one blemish. A couple of missed assignments led to the only Haymaker score of the game. It was a great victory, we played hard, and both our offense and our defense had very good games. We must learn from our mistakes and correct them.
Good job Zebras, Play HARD, and Play SMART!

Zebras Take A Bite Out Of The Bulldogs
The 4th Grade White bounced back from their loss last week, with a 13-0 victory over the Skiatook Bulldogs. The Zebras travelled to Skiatook for the 3:00pm matchup with the Bulldogs. The late afternoon games seem to be curse of the Zebras. Our best perfomrances have all been earlier in the day and this one was no different. The Zebras went into this game with a 4-1 record, while the Bulldogs came in at 0-5. The records would give the impression of an easy win for the Zebras. Although the Bulldogs never gave a serious threat, the Zebras struggled both defensively and offensively. The Zebra's "D" allowed more yardage than you would expect from an 0-5 team. The offense didn't have the success moving the ball that they have had in previous outings. You still have to give them credit, even with a lackluster performance they found a way to get the win. It will, however, take a much better performance to finish the season strong and advance through the playoffs.

Spartans Bring Down Zebras
The 4th Grade White Zebras lost by a score of 18-6 to last years 3rd Grade INFC Champion, Bixby 4th Grade Red. The Spartans scored on the openening kickoff to lead the game 6-0 after a failed extra point attempt. The Zebras came back and tied the game up at 6, with another failed extra point attempt. The Spartans found the end zone 2 more time before the half, each time being denied the extra point. The Zebra Defense did a much better job of containing the Spartan offense the second half but the Zebra "O" never found an answer for the Spartan first half points.

Zebras Hang On for the "W" in Wagoner
The 4th Grade White Zebras held on for a tough victory against the Wagoner Bulldogs. The matchup proved to be a battle of the defenses. The only score of the game wasn't until the final minutes of the fourth quarter. The Zebra offense playing without two of their regular lineman found the yardage very hard to come by. Fortunatly for the Zebras the "D" stepped up and once again, kept their opponent scoreless.
Nice job Zebras, for the "W" and to the Bulldogs for a tough fight

Zebras Welcome the Tigers to Their Jungle
The 4th grade White team gave the Tigers all they wanted in what started off as a defensive battle. The end of the first quarter it was tied up, with each team being scoreless. It was 7 - 0 at the end of the half, after the Zebras held the Tigers on a first and goal. The Zebra defense made one awesome goal line stand to hold the lead going into half time. The majority of the Platinum first half yards, came on Zebra penalties. The second half the Zebra offense punched it into the end zone two more times while the Zebra D managed to hold the Tigers scoreless. The final score was 20 - 0 Zebras.

Zebras Win Home Opener
The 4th Grade White defeated the Jenks 4th Grade White by a score of 6 to 0 in their "home" opener held at Verdigris High School. The Zebras kicked off, and held the Trojan offense on the first possession. The first offensive play of the game for the Zebras resulted in the only score of the game. The Zebra offense moved the ball up and down the field most of the game, but only managed to cross the goal line one more time. That score was nullified on a hold. The tough Zebra defense kept the Trojans from being a real threat most of the game. The only time the Trojan offense made it into the red zone was just before half time. Overall it was a very successful opening game. Both offense and defense did their jobs very well with only a few flaws. We had some costly errors, in addition to the hold, we had an interception called back on a roughing the passer call, and we lost one fumble. Although costly, these are errors that can be expected in the first game of the year. We should be able to work these bugs out as the season progresses.
