Half a Game Better
The Zebras showed improvement the second half of Saturdays game against Owasso White. The Zebras won the match 19 to 6 but were very flat, ending the first half tied at 6 apiece, against a team that is now just 3 and 5. It is hard to knock a win, however our performance of late is not going to get us very far into the post-season. Union Red lost this past week to TBC Blue placing us into a tie for third with the Union team by record, but ahead of them by virtue of placement points. The Union team has a very tough Collinsville Black team and we have TBC left to play on Saturday. Pending either a meltdown by our team or an exceptional performance by the Union Red team, it appears we should make it to the playoffs. That is not a given though, we will have to play tougher football!
Sorry, there will be no pictures of our game against Owasso, I had two packages of new batteries, neither of which worked. I guess I should have paid better attention to the Duracell commercial and stayed way from the "so-called heavy-duty batteries"....Oh well, live and learn!

Flat and Unimpressive
The 3rd Grade White Zebras travelled to Collinsville Thursday night for a make-up game with the Cardinals and found something they weren't ready for. The team that hadn't allowed anyone into the endzone in 12 seconds short of 4 games didn't score a single touchdown of their own. The Zebra performance was by far the worst I've seen from this group. We had, what seemed like more yardage lost in penalties than we gained on offense. When you get to the 5th game of the season, it's time to know which offense or defense you are on. Last night we didn't on several occasions. The confusion led to penalties resulting in lost yardage and wasted timeouts. The penalties and confusion was big, but it was nowhere near as big as our lack of effort. We let a late second half interception that resulted in a touchdown the following play completely take us out of the game. There was some very questionable clock management, but it shouldn't have beat us.(How do you intercept the ball on the goal line and run it back 90 something yards while only 6 seconds run off the clock....that's an impressive 100 yard time). The bottom line is that we played a very good team and we didn't bring our "A" Game. We have to get our heads up and come ready to play Saturday. This game is over, put it behind you and learn from it! Congratulations Cardinals, you played a great game!

3rd Grade White Wins Home Opener!
The 3rd Grade White hosted the Hilldale Hornets for it's home opener at Claremore's Lantow Field. The Zebras came out with the victory, scoring twelve points of their own while keeping the Hornets scoreless. The Zebra offense had difficulty advancing the ball, managing only two scoring drives. The Zebra defense was much more effective. The White defense did an outstanding job of suppressing the Hornets' offensive efforts. Great Job Zebras. Your getting stronger!

Zebras On a Roll!
The 3rd Grade White Zebras travelled to Inola today, to take on the Inola Longhorns. The Zebras played strong once again. The tough Zebra Defense once again shut down their opponents scoring effort, this time allowing no first downs the entire game. The Zebra offense, not to be out done, scored 38 points for the huge Zebra victory.

12 Seconds From Flawless
The Union Red offense managed to do what no other team has been able to do thus far. The Union offense put the ball across the goal line with just 12 seconds left on the clock to end the White defense's perfect season. The White defense had already withstood 2 goal line stands to hold off the Redskins. The Zebra offense had a tough time moving the ball against the Redskins, but persistance paid off and the Zebras manged to punch the ball into the end zone twice to keep the Zebras record unmarred at 4-0. Nice job Zebras, You played a tough ballgame against a very good team and did what it took to come out on top!

The Claremore 3rd Grade White Zebras opened their season with a win over the Pirates of Locust Grove. The games were supposed to be played in Locust Grove, but had to be moved the Bixby RBW fields due to conflicts with their high school scheduling. The heavy rains along with the fields being located along the Bixby river bottom, made for a very wet season opener. The Zebras didn't take long however, to make themselves at home on the wet fields. The Zebras elected to receive the ball and scored from their first play from the line of scrimmage. The rest of the game was all Zebras with a final score of 27-0.
