We are pleased to announce our latest inductee into the Zaibas Hall of Fame - Joe Cannavino!

Joe was instrumental for building a CYO basketball dynasty at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School which basically was a feeder system into our own Zaibas club. Over the years, his teams repeatedly were CYO champions at St. Joseph High School and vyed for the city championship several times. In 1972, he broke an 11 year drought by coaching our own Zaibas Class C Boys to a LAUNA championship. He was an inspiration and a motivational leader for a generation of our Zaibas youth.

With that in mind we would like to invite everyone to our annual fundraising and Hall of Fame event March 6, 2010 (Recher Hall, Euclid). Tickets are still only $30 per person and includes dinner and open bar. It will be a mini "OLPH reunion" of sorts so tickets may be in demand . For more ticket information please call 440-209-0440.

1.      The 2009 North American Lithuanian Swimming Championships will be conducted by the 

         Lithuanian Athletic Club “Zaibas”, on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Godfrey Pool of Hawken 

         Lower/Middle School, 5000 Clubside Road, Lyndhurst, Ohio.

2.      Division and events are as listed below:

MEN’S & WOMEN’S MASTER’S (25 years and above): 50, 100, & 200 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Butterfly, 200 Individual Medley.

MEN’S & WOMEN’S OPEN (17-24 years):  Same as Master’s Division.

BOYS & GIRLS 15 -16 YEARS:  Same as Master’s Division.

BOYS & GIRLS 13 -14 YEARS:  Same as Master’s Division.

BOYS & GIRLS 11-12 YEARS:   50 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 200 I.M., 200 Freestyle.

BOYS & GIRLS 9 -10 YEARS:    50 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 100 I.M.

BOYS & GIRLS 7 - 8  YEARS:    25 Free, 25 Back, 25 Breast, 25 Fly, 100 I.M.

BOYS & GIRLS 6 &  UNDER:     Same as 7-8 division.

Congratulations to all of our Zaibas members who participated in the 2009 Suburban Swim League Championships held in Willowick/Wickliffe Ohio this year. Thirteen club members representing their respective cities: Euclid, Highland Hts, Pinegate (Mentor), Wickliffe and Willowick participated.

Special recognition goes to Lilija Taraska and her twin sister Silvija Taraska. These girls took  1st place and 2nd place finishes in several of their respective events in  the 9 - 10 girls division!
