My name is Michele Barber, most of you know me from the snack bar from National League, some just as the President’s wife. Most of you also know I have been diagnosed with cancer and am currently battling to fight this disease and the prognosis is good. I wanted to write a little something to thank you all for your support:
Today I received an envelope containing a little over $900 on behalf of Yucaipa Little League families. I can’t even tell you how overwhelmed I am with the outpouring of love and caring expressed to my family in the way of thoughts, prayers, dinners, and now this. My husband, older son AJ and I have donated more time than I can count to Little League over the last 5 years and I have to admit sometimes it can be thankless, but this gift of caring and friendship makes me realize we are truly a family. A family that does not always agree with each other’s ideas but when it matters they reach out and help. Some of my dearest friends I would not have but for Little League. Over the years we have helped many families in the way of fund-raising at the fields, I never dreamed it would be mine that needed it at anytime, but I am glad I was involved. If you take anything from this expression of gratitude, please know it is so important to be a good community member and get involved whether through Little League, the church, the Relay for Life, there are so many. We need each other.
God Bless you all and your families ~ Michele Barber

General Membership Meeting
Inland Empire 66er's YVNLL Night,

VERY IMPORTANT reminders when it comes to pitch count and signing the book and blue sheets at the end of games:
Pitch Count
- it is ultimately your responsibility as the manager to know how many pitches your pitcher has thrown and when they need to be removed from the game. (see rule book p. 38)
- please make sure someone on your bench is keeping a pitch count as well as someone with your team book
- you can verify pitch count with the official scorekeeper as often as you would like
- if you have a different number than the official scorekeeper and you would like her/him to recount for you, you have the right to ask her/him to do so
- while the official scorekeeper tries to be accurate, they are volunteers and mistakes do occur at times...this is why all score books are audited and is also why you have always been encouraged to have multiple people keeping a pitch count
- the official scorebook is the official record of the game
- signing the scorebook means you agree with what has been entered in the scorebook - take the time to look at it before you sign it
- the blue sheet is a quick look at what happened in the game and is not the official record
- when in doubt, double check the scorebook
- signing the blue sheet means you agree with the pitch count and the days of rest
- audits are done of the official scorebook within a day or two of each game
- corrections are made to the blue sheet as needed, as it is the scorebook that is the official record
- pitch counts and days of rest posted in the pitching availability section of this website are based on the audit
- you are always welcome to ask questions and ask to see the scorebook...the auditor isn't perfect, but does her best to get things right
Scorekeeping Reminders
I know a lot of you are new to this and I truly appreciate your help in scoring our games.
Just a few VERY IMPORTANT reminders:
VISITOR on top
HOME on bottom
Be sure to CLEARLY MARK ALL PITCHING CHANGES in the book
Blue sheets must be COMPLETELY filled out in pen
SUBSTITUTIONS - you only need to know who is on the bench, not changes in the field (50/70 and Jr/Sr do not need to fill this out if playing 9 batters and substitutions)
Have a child run and look to see who is on the bench each inning if the coaches aren’t telling you
PITCHES THROWN – the total number of pitches the pitcher threw in the game
DAYS OF REST - the pitch number they started their last batter on is the number you use when determining days of rest
Once a game reaches a mercy, THE GAME IS OVERMercy rule
If the home team is up by at least 10 runs after 3 ½ innings
If the visiting team is up by at least 10 runs after 4 innings
Use the same determination after each additional inning
Major Away Games, ALL 50/70 Games and ALL Jr/Sr Games
Always keep your team book at away games – extra blue sheets for away games can be found in the scorekeeping box – keep a few in your home book
Take a picture of each side of the blue sheet at the end of the game
Text the pictures to me and please include the score of the game
P Pitcher Availibility
Be sure to check this for each new pitcher entering the game
There is an availability list in the back of the binder – updated on Thursday and Sunday evenings
The website is always the most up to date

Thank you to all the volunteer, sponsors, parents, and everyone in between ~ the YVNLL could not ask for a stronger group to make Opening Day Ceremonies possible! What a true success! The smiles and enthusiasm of each participant made Opening Day one for the books!
We appreciate you!
*LIVE SCAN* BACKGROUND CHECK
Required for ALL Volunteers
Live Scan Basic Information
• YVNLL has begun using Live Scan background checks in order to meet new requirements set in place by Little League International.
• The background check searches both State and National databases.
• The background check is a one-time screening. You no longer need to be screened by YVNLL yearly, as subsequent ‘issues’ automatically get reported to the League.
• All volunteers must be Live Scanned specifically for YVNLL. If you have been Live Scanned for another organization, you will need to be screened again for YVNLL.
What to do:
Live Scan services for YVNLL have been set up through the UPS Store here in Yucaipa. The address is: 34428 Yucaipa Boulevard Yucaipa, CA 92399 (909) 790-6400
Here are the steps:
• Go to the UPS Store
• Let them know you are there to get Live Scanned for Yucaipa Valley National Little League
• They have a form on file, which they will copy and then have you fill out with your personal information
• You will need an ID and a payment of $40* (DOJ search-free, FBI search-$15, and UPS rolling fee-$25) to complete your transaction
• Your fingerprints will then be taken and the results of your screening emailed to the league in a secure mailbox provided by the DOJ
If you choose to have your Live Scan completed at another location you will need the following information:
• ORI AF790
• Mail Code 16892
Following your Live Scan fingerprinting:
• YVNLL will receive your clearance confirmation in 1 -14 days (average being 3-5 days)
• We will create your badge
• You will be responsible for providing a color photo of yourself printed on photo or copy paper (using the photo cut from a previous badge works fine too). Photos need to be trimmed to approximately 1X1 inch square in order to fit on your badge. Photos sent via text or email will not be accepted.
• Badges will be laminated with your photo on designated dates only (i.e. Draft Night, Equipment Pick Up, Team Parent Meeting, Scorekeepers Meeting, and other predetermined dates/times).
Please contact our League Secretary with any questions you may have.
*YVNLL does not determine any of the fees associated with the Live Scan process. Fees are subject to change.

IMPORTANT BOARD ACTION FOR 2013
On December 4, 2012 the YVNLL 2013 Season Board of Directors voted unanimously to put in place a new division under the recommendation of Little League International.
This creation and development of a new baseball division has been a top priority of Little League International. This division was started 3 years ago as a pilot program and the success of the program and feedback from leagues have shown Little League they need to look at the implementation this program titled "Intermediate (50/70) Division".
The Intermediate (50/70) Baseball Division will need flexibility to be the cornerstone of this division so leagues and communities will embrace the creation of this division nd its rules and regulations. This division, the first new program in Little League since 1999, bridges the transition from Little League (46/60) to Junior League Baseball (on a full-size field 60/90). It is a League for players 11-13 years old whose advance skills permit the allowance of rules that are closer to conventional baseball, such as leading off bases, pick off attempts, etc.
Intermediate Baseball field dimension are as it implies. Pitching rubber will be at 50 feet from home plate, bases will be placed at 70 feet from home plate and the fence recommended to be placed 200 to 275 feet from home plate for regular season games. Tournaments games to be played at 225 to 275.
While some leagues can limit the age group anywhere within 11 to 13 age group, YVNLL has voted to allow the ages of 11 to 13 years old to be eligible for drafting of this division. Participants must tryout for division and score according to the league's standards. This will make them eligible for the draft to the Intermediate Division. Participants in this division will also have the opportunity to play in other divisions they are age eligible for (ie majors or juniors) provided they pay an additional $85.00 dollars. This division may also be traveling as well as playing at Bryant Glen Park. Any individual who does not meet the league's minimum standards will be placed into the Major Division Draft unless a Player Agent or BOD deems that participant eligible for Intermediate Division.
Official Rules and Bylaws to be available after January Board meeting.
Excited for upcoming season,
Dave Barber
