  Welcome

Welcome to York Cheerleading

The general objectives of the York Youth Football program are to inspire youth, regardless of race, creed or national origin, to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship, and physical fitness.

For all the youth involved, we strive to make the game "fun.”     This is most readily accomplished with coaches constantly keeping in mind the ages of the participants.  We frown upon individual trophies on athletic achievement, firmly believing there is ample time for that kind of recognition later in life.

The program stresses learning lessons of value far beyond the playing or cheering days for the boys and girls: such as self-discipline, respect, teamwork, concentration, friendship, leadership, and good sportsmanship.

With such goals in mind, and by providing an opportunity to participate in the sport in an organized, supervised environment with emphasis on maximum safety and participation, York Youth Football offers the youth of the new century a unique experience.

The following are 6 key guidelines used as part of our philosophy:

1YYF is a second family.

YYF is here to help each other, as does a family.  What we mean is being there for each other, protecting each other, respecting and guiding each other.  Most important, giving our kids the best possible opportunity to succeed on the field, in school and in life.

2. Coaches will care for and teach their players.

When coaches begin to care for their players they elevate their coaching to new heights.  Coaches begin to truly care about how their kids are doing in school, at home and with the team.  We believe that this is essential for our programs success and longevity within our community.

3. Football players and cheerleaders will work TOGETHER.

Everything that we do we do together, whether it be games, cheer events or fund-raising events.  We support each other because we are a family working together.

4. The football players and cheerleaders job is to care for each other.

When this happens there is a greater importance on the field, school and home.  Players and cheerleaders do no want to let the team down by turning in bad grades or getting into trouble at home or school.  Because this could mean they could no longer participate for the rest of the season.  Again a second family.

5. The parent’s job is to support, cheer and be respectful of each child as if they were their own.

Remember we are here for the kids and the kids only.

6. We are board members, coaches and staff members first - men and women second!

There are no ego’s in our program, we believe in this because our focus should be on the kids.

Our 2009 Season Begins in August!!

Please also start looking for white sneakers for your uniform. I am not picky, as long as they are an athletic all white sneaker.  Thanks so much, have a great summer!
