York Little League: Alumni History

York Little League

York Little League was incorporated on February 28, 1962. In 1999, the League became a "netizen" in a effort to provide players, parents and interested people with an avenue of finding out more about Little league.

York Little League’s original charter was the product of Samuel H. Shipley. Samuel H. Shipley was the son of the founder of what is now Shipley Energy. He took over the family business upon his father, Thomas Shipley’s death in 1930. Along with York Little League he is also credited with starting York Sports Night and heading up the York White Rose’s minor league baseball team.  Our Major's divison field, Shipley Field, is named in his honor.

Help Preserve History
We are looking for our roots!  We are placing this page on this website to honor and remember previous York Little League members for their accomplishments and contributions in making this a wonderful league, a league that has a full and rich history in the East York community. If you have any information that you think would be appropriate and would like to see it posted here, please forward it to joero1@comcast.net. It would be great to share these old stories and pictures with old friends. If you're including pictures, please have them scanned and saved as .jpg files and include captions. We look forward to hearing from you and seeing this page grow as our history comes back to life.
