(1972 - 1973) Rodger Furse, and a small group of supporters, start the York Boys Ice Hockey Club. Twenty five boys, from ages 8 to 16 years old come to play on an open rink with very little equipment. Ice time is established at 1.5 hours per week.
(1973 - 1974) Forty five boys are organized into four teams. Goals and goalie equipment are added. Participants are covered by insurance. Ten games are played with Lancaster minor league teams.
(1974 - 1975) Eighty boys now make six teams, each sponsored by local businesses. The Midget team play a Canadian team from Kitchener. The first Club banquet is held.
(1975 - 1976) York's Bantam and Midget teams participate in the Star Spangled Hockey Tournament in Baltimore, MD. The first Board of Directors are elected. Players benches are built.
(1976 - 1977) York City installs a permanent base to the rink. The ice is greatly improved. The Women's Auxiliary is formed to raise funds and provide refreshments at the games.
(1978 - 1979) The Hershey Bears Doug Patey and Claude Noel conduct a hockey clinic for sixty boys. The Squirt team travels to the Hill School in Pottstown, PA for a tournament. The Parents Booster Club replaces the Women's Auxiliary.
(1979 - 1980) The first "York Green Devil" appears on players' patches. The first Skate-A-Thon raises nearly $5000.00. Mouthpieces become mandatory for Bantam and Midget players. They are donated by Dr. Ray Reuse. Dr. Reuse has each player come to his office to be fitted professionally.
(1980 - 1981) On November 16th, the rink opens with a new roof, new ice making equipment, a new scoreboard and a new Zamboni. There is no longer a need for shoveling or games canceled due to rain or snow. Bernie Parent, a retired Philadelphia Flyers goalie, signs autographs. The York Ice Hockey Club donates money to York City for the scoreboard. The Keystone Youth Hockey League is formed.
(1985 - 1986) The Club continues to grow throughout the 1980s. An Atom team is added with five, six, seven and eight year old players. The Club joins the Capital Beltway Hockey League (CBHL).
(1991 - 1992) The first year the Club competes in "A" level hockey with the Midget team. With coach Tom Golden, the Midget team places second in the CBHL Laurel Tournament. New jerseys and socks match the red/white/green colors of the New Jersey Devils professional hockey team.
(1992 - 1993) The Club adopts a new logo "Ice Devil". Phil Serls, as President of the Board, proudly proclaims that "the deficit is cleared". An aggressive campaign ensues to increase youth members and community support.
(1993 - 1994) In March, the Club hosts the First Annual Colonial Spring Tournament, which is still successfully run by Rick Hare.
(1994 - 1995) The Club joins the Delaware Valley Hockey League (DVHL). The Midget team wins the Districts! The Learn to Skate & Play Hockey program adds over 120 new members.
(1995 - 1996) The Club gets a new Rink!! Jim Gross, a dedicated hockey coach, Dad and club scheduler, passes away. His loss is greatly mourned by all.
(1996 - 1997) The Club's Pee Wee "B" team, with coach Ray Wise, become the first York Ice Hockey Club team to have an undefeated season earning the DVHL Division Championship. The Mite "B" team, with coach Rick Lefever, is District Champions, as well.
(1997 - 1998) The Club now has 285 youth players. The Squirt "A" team, with coaches Ed Javitt and Rich Jones, work their way up to 4th place in the DVHL standings. The Mite "B" players take to the ice in Philadelphia, PA for "Mites on Ice".
(1998-1999) The Mite "A" team, with coach Rick Lefever, bring home the Gold Medal from Lake Placid. They are honored by the Mayor.
(1999-2000) The entire travel club participated in the Warriors Annual Thanksgiving Tournament in Johnstown, PA. The Club gets a new pin design.
(2000-2001) The Squirt A Elite team goes to the AAHA District Championships, March 23-25 at IceWorks in Aston, Pennsylvania. After playing the "best of the best", the York Devils skate away the CHAMPIONS!!
(2001-2002) The brand new York Ice Arena opens its doors. The York Devils holds its 1st Annual Thanksgiving Tournament.
(2002-2003)
(2003-2004) YIHC hires Mike Cleveland as a part time Hockey Director.
(2004-2005) Mite Team goes 15-0-1 for First Place in League. Mite and Bantam teams bring home gold from Can AM; Mason Dixon Selects Forms
(2005-2006) Formation of the Susquehanna Rapids girls team
(2006-2007) Midget 18AA team makes first appearance at the USA Hockey National Championship Tournament in Fraser, Michigan after winning the DVHL league championship and the Atlantic District Championship. The Pee Wee B team finishes 2nd in the DVHL.
(2007-2008) Midget 18AA team wins DVHL league championship.
(2008-2009) Mite B team wins DVHL league championship. Pee Wee B & Midget 18AA advance to the District playoffs. There are 12 travel teams and 8 in house teams.
