This Yellow Jackets team was formed in March 2003 as a younger version of the highly competitive and successful Yellow Jackets basketball program and The Central Florida Athletics Association. 2003 was our first season of tournament play. Considering our team from start to finish was only together for six months, we did remarkably well. We started out slow, but the kids played really hard and came together as a team. Their hard work and desire in a short period of time ultimately earned them a 3rd Place Medal at the YBOA National Championships. “The journey is more important than the finish line. It's the fun, work, and experiences (good and bad) along the way that ultimately will be the most valuable to personal growth. If you have prepared, worked your hardest, played fair, and given it your best effort along the way, then no matter what happens, you can be proud and satisfied at the end.” - unknown

Going into Nationals, we did not know what to expect from a group of kids that have been together for just 5 months. Our goal was to enjoy the National experience, have fun, play hard and see where that takes us. That goal took us pretty far.
The kids stepped up for the challenge, really came together as a team and as a result received a Medal for third place in Nationals. The team also took second place in the National All-Academic team category. Not only can the kids play ball, but they proved they are academically solid as well.
Congratulations go out to each and every member of the YJ team. Every single player contributed to the eight game cause. Those contributions as well as individual accolades are listed below. While these numbers are measurable, others are not. Intensity, hustle and the right thing at the right time are contributions each player made whether they were a starter or came off the bench ready to go. Excellent job to all.
