2009 FUTURE STARS
Check back in May 2010 to prepare for the next Future Stars. Old 2009 information is below.....
This just in...Future Stars will now play all games at the new complex !
York County Little League Future Stars 2009 is right around the corner and we are NOW taking registration for what promises to be every bit as EXCITING as in year’s past!
Future Stars is a post-season tournament for players ages 7, 8, and 9 and it’s played directly following the regular 2009 YCLL spring season. It is designed to give players a chance to experience an All-Star tournament atmosphere.
All games are played utilizing a pitching machine. The outfield fence will be set at 120’ in the corners, so all players will have a chance to hit it out of the park! This year, to ensure fair and balanced teams, the managers will select players using our regular little league draft process. Age groups will be divided evenly among the teams. We do not accept teammate requests and there are no guarantees for players to be on the same team with players from their regular season team. Our goal is to have all teams competitive, therefore resulting in more fun for all players and parents alike!
The Future Stars Tournament (including practices) will run from June 13th through June 30th weather dependent. Each team will have two or three practices and a minimum of five games.
Some of the features for Future Stars in 2009:
- A pitching machine that makes for BIG hits and fast games!
- An outfield fence at 120’
- A Home Run Derby for ALL players with each player competing only with his age group
- Quality Shirts and College Team replica hats for all players
- FUN and DEVELOPMENT all at the same time!
Some things to consider before signing up:
Each team will have at least eight team events within 14 days. That means baseball nearly every day for two weeks. If your player is tired of baseball by the end of the regular season, Future Stars probably isn’t for them.
Many kids find competition to be fun. Others don’t. While FUN is still #1 in Future Stars, winning becomes more important especially as compared to the 7 and 8 baseball, and in some cases, even our AA and AAA division.
Parents of seven and eight year olds should consider whether their child is ready to play “with the big boys.” Many younger kids really improve during Future Stars by learning from the older kids. Others can be intimidated. For safety reasons, some might not be ready this year. You know your child best!
Nine year olds who make the regular All Star team will not be eligible for Future Stars. If your child is chosen for All Stars, your Future Stars registration fee will be applied to the All Star fee.
Players must be available for games from June 12th – June 30th.
To register, fill out the form and mail it in with a check for $30.00 (payable to YCLL) no later than June 8th. Please do not wait until the deadline to register. Registration will be closed when we reach our limit of 72 players.
