TEE BALL DIVISION

Tee Ball -- Age 5-6
Our Tee Ball program is called "Rookie League" because this is where players get their start. Tee Ball is for boys and girls ages 5 and 6. The emphasis is on fun and skill development. No score is kept. Every player bats each inning. We try to keep team sizes as small as possible to allow for better practices and more participation during games. All 5 YO players must play in Tee Ball.    6 YO players may choose between Tee Ball, 6 YO Coach Pitch Baseball, or Coach Pitch Softball.    If your 6 YO player has never held a bat in their hands before or played baseball in the backyard, we recommend Tee Ball.
Contact: TeeBall@ycll.net   Tee Ball Ground Rules

Coach Pitch Baseball -- Age 6
Coach Pitch Baseball, for 6 YO boys and girls, is the next level of the Tee Ball Division. 6 YO players may choose to play or remain in Tee Ball.   In 6 YO Coach Pitch, the season is split into three parts.   In the first game, the teams play Tee Ball.   In the next seven games, machine pitching is introduced.   In the remaining games, the tee is not used at all.   6 YO Coach Pitch Baseball was added to bridge the gap between Teeball and 7 YO Coach Pitch Baseball and is a great choice for a six year old who has already developed basic skills.    Contact: 6-7BB@ycll.net    6 YO Ground Rules

.

MINOR LEAGUE DIVISION

Coach Pitch Baseball -- Age 7
Coach Pitch Baseball is the first level of the Minor League Division and is for boys and girls age 7.   The focus is solely on skill development and fun. It provides the opportunity for players to develop the skill of hitting a pitched ball by a person (not a machine).   No score is kept (though the kids usually do anyway!) This is where the game begins to resemble actual baseball!   Innings often end in three outs!   The Tee is used alot in practice but is no longer used during the games.   Contact: 6-7BB@ycll.net   7 YO Ground Rules

Coach/Player Pitch Baseball -- Age 8
Coach/Player Pitch Baseball is part of the Minor League Baseball division for boys and girls age 8. The season will be split between coach pitch and player pitch. Games through end of April will be coach pitch. Beginning May 1st, players will pitch utilizing a modified pitch count that helps protect young pitching arms and encourages defensive and offensive participation. While fun is still number one, the concept of competition is introduced. In previous years, we have found that many players and parents experienced "culture shock" when they moved up to "AA" the following year. The difference in the seriousness of competition can be striking if a player goes from never having kept score to the season-long competition of "AA."   Coach/Player Pitch Baseball is designed to ease this transition.    Contact: 8YOBB@ycll.net   8 YO Ground Rules

Double A ("AA") Baseball -- Age 9 - 10
AA is part of the Minor League Baseball division for boys and girls age 9 and 10. All players must attend a skills evaluation. Players will be selected to AAA or AA by virtue of the manager's draft which follows the evaluation. AA is generally for those players who need a bit more skill development. Many parents choose to request that their child be placed in AA as there is not quite as much focus on competition as there can be in AAA. A request of this nature should be made BEFORE the tryouts! A player who does not request AA before the tryouts may be "called up" to AAA during the season.    Contact: AABaseball@ycll.net    AA Ground Rules

AAA Baseball -- Age 9 - 10 - 11
AAA is part of the Minor League Baseball division for boys and girls ages 9, 10 and 11. The focus continues to be on fun and skill development. However, because AAA is made up of the players with more advanced baseball skills, there is a somewhat higher level of competition. Players who participate in AAA as 9 and 10 year olds in one year are not necessarily guaranteed to play AAA the following year. Generally AAA is comprised of only a few very outstanding 9 year olds. Our 9/10 Tournament Teams are selected from AAA Baseball.    Contact: AAABaseball@ycll.net    AAA YO Ground Rules
