YASRA
This is the official web site for the York Area Soccer Referees' Association (YASRA). Our mission is to promote soccer through the recruitment, training, professional development and retention of qualified referees. We are affiliated with the Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association Referee Committee (EPSARC). Membership in YASRA is open to all registered USSF referees in the York area.

Upcoming YASRA Training Session
The next one-hour YASRA training session will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in room 1101 of the York County School of Technology. Participants will receive one hour of training credit for use in registering with USSF for 2009. You must attend at least five hours of training each calendar year in order to be able to register with USSF the next year. After the session in September, YASRA will be hosting 1 more one-hour training sessions throughout the remainder of the year, as indicated on the schedule below. Please note that due to ongoing construction we may relocate to the cafeteria, auditorium or other area in the school.

Keep a Record of Your Annual Training Credits
The chapter will no longer keep any record of attendance by referees at its monthly training sessions. Instead, each referee must maintain their own record, using the form provided for download on this web site. Each referee is responsible for bringing this form to each meeting to obtain the signature of the instructor or a YASRA board member to verify attendance. The referee will submit this one form with their 2009 USSF registration packet. If the referee fails to obtain the required signatures or if the referee loses their form, there will be no other record of that referee's attendance at YASRA training sessions. Click on the handout below to download the form.

The training year now runs on a normal calendar year of January 1 to December 31. Each referee must pass the written test and participate in at least 5 hours of continuing educational instruction during each training year in order to be eligible to register for the next calendar year. The test and training may be accomplished either at the local Chapter level (YASRA) or by attending the Intermediate Clinic or the Region 1 Seminar conducted annually at the state level. Therefore, in order for you to submit your USSF registration packet to EPSARC so that you will be eligible to officiate games in calendar year 2009 you must pass the written test and participate in at least 5 hours of instruction during the period of Janaury 1, 2008through December 31, 2008 Please note that EPSARC policy now prohibits local chapters such as YASRA from giving more than one hour of training credit each month and no training credits may be given when the written test is administered in May or for the annual USSF registration meeting in November. EPSARC policy now prohibits the local chapters such as YASRA from administering the written test more than once each year.
Intermediate Clinics are Run by EPSARC, not YASRA
Please note that the various day-long Intermediate Clinics being held throughout the year are organized and conducted by EPSARC, not by YASRA. ALL questions regarding these training sessions should be directed to EPSARC. The EPSARC web site contains detailed information about these Intermediate clinics. How do I get game assignments?
Several weeks prior to each new season, Tom Schuchart (the YorkUSA League assignor) mails out availability surveys to all registered referees whose names appear on his most recent printout from EPSARC. You should carefully complete that form and return it to Tom immediately so that he can include the information in his game assignment decisions.
If you have not received the survey for the Fall 2008 season by the end of July, contact Tom at shewyusa@comcast.net or (717) 873-0638 to verify your address and certification status. Note that if you did not fulfill all of the USSF recertification requirements last year (ie: attend 5 hours of instruction, pass the written test and submit your USSF registration form to EPSARC with a check for $25) then your name will not appear on Tom's list. Neither Tom nor any other assignor can schedule you for games (including tournaments) if you have not properly registered with USSF for 2008.
Click on this paragraph's headline (or the "Referee Assignors" folder on the left-hand side of this screen) for a complete list of game and tournament assignors who handle matches in York and surrounding counties.
