Trojans take three of six championships

The YAP Trojans completed is fifth season in great fashion. The Trojans made it to all season league championship games. The season was a great success all of our young men and women were outstanding.

In the flag football championship the Trojans dominated from start to finish. Coach Anthony Fagan taking over at mid season turned in great play calling that the Trojans to a 35-0 victory in the flag championship. A BIG congrats goes out to all the players and families that participated in flag this season. Coach Fagan, will move his team over to the 75 lbs tackle football in 2009 and he looks to continue his winning ways.

At the Pop Warner league championships that were held at Kerr Field in Yeadon. The Trojans 105 lbs team came up short in its bid for a second straight championship. They were upset by the Dynasty Dragons. We will be back next year. The next game was between the Trojans and the Dragons again and the Trojans dominated from begining to end and won a hard fought game. The Trojans used a strong ground game with a mix of short passing to defeat the Dragons who were favored to win their second straight league championship and move on to Pop Warner Regional WAY TO GO TROJANS.

The Trojans 135lbs split with the Dynasty Dragons during the season and in another tough hard-hitting game the Trojans came up just short losing in the final quarter to the Dragons. Also on Saturday the Midget Trojans won a game over the Hurricanes for their use of high school football players. In a heart break game Sunday morning, the Trojans lose in overtime to the Dynasty Dragons. The Trojans led all the way up until the final seconds in regulation when the Dragons tied the game and won in overtime.

We are also proud of our young ladies that traveled to Lehigh University and competed in the cheer competition. They won "MOST TEAM SPIRIT" and Seira Lewis was runner up in the JUMP OFF competition. WAY TO GO LADIES.

WE ARE PROUD OF ALL OF OUR TROJAN PARTICIPANTS. THE ORGANIZATIONS SAYS

The first week was a tough one for the Trojans. In the first game of the year the Trojans 75 lbs football team went to the Hurricanes and came up short on a 13-12 defeat. Deewill Barlee playing quarterback scored twice on two sweeps. Kamal ran hard up the middle to soften up the Hurricanes for the touchdowns by Deewil. Coach Barnes stated that several key players were missing and look forward to better things in the coming weeks.  The Trojans 90lbs football team also played the Hurricanes and came up short in a game that was closer than the score. They lost 26-0, however there was hard play by quaterback/safety Christoff Minott. With experience Coach Renee says this will be a better team.

At the Enon Eagles field, the Trojans 105lbs went in there and took charge from begining to end. They were dominate offensively and defensively scoring touchdowns were Gary Brightwell scored on a 50 yard off tackle run. Tajee Duncan scored on an interception running it back for a touchdown. He also scored on a sweep around right end for a 48 yard touchdown run. The final touchdown came from Ernest Fennell on a 10 yard dive play.  Way to go 105s

The peewee Trojan team went to 18th and Hunting Park to play the Mustangs, in a hard fought game the Trojans came up short losing 19-0. The Trojans jr. midgets played against the Hurricanes and came up on the losing end with a 26-0 score. We will get them next time Trojans

The night cap on Saturday was the midget team winning on a forfeit by the Cowboys. They were unable to produce a scale to weigh the teams in which is a forfeit for the team. They did play to a scorless tie in the game.
