Team Fees
The fee structure is designed to cover all running expenses of the club (including equipment acquisitions) and to leave just a very small extra reserve for the unexpected – maybe throw a party if we are league champions. A good way of reducing these fees is twofold. One, you can reduce your own per person cost by bringing in more players, and two, you can reduce it in absolute terms by getting sponsors for the team. Your efforts are always welcome in these areas.
The annual membership fees intend to cover, among other things, the following costs of the team: • team equipment, namely balls, helmets, catching gear, bats and rosin bags • affiliation with the SBSA (which gives us the access to the Kallang grounds) • any extraordinary items approved by the team within available funds • participation in the regular NBL season games We did not incur any serious expenditures in 2007 because there was no league and we did not practice on a regular basis. In 2005 when there was no league, we ran the team on the basis of a pay-as-you-incur basis, and once the 2008 League is over would expect to return to that format. For example, if there are ground fees incurred for practice or a friendly game, then whoever shows up splits the cost with all other participants. Another example; we took part in a fastpitch softball tournament to get some serious competition in, since the SBSA has failed to deliver on the baseball league, and we split the cost of participation on a per head basis among all those who elected to play in it. The team would prefer to run its practice sessions on this pay-as-you-incur basis, as it is easier to manage the team budget this way. In the past, members contributed generously, in the form of donations - balls, bats, catching gear, mitts, etc. All these are by far the pricier team items and this has resulted in keeping the club fees lower. Any kind of similar contribution is most welcome. Typically, baseballs are a wear and tear item and need constant replenishment. Please note that the full set of catching gear looks like it has run its course - it is now into its 6th year and with this humidity, replacement is long over due. The 1B mitt is also looking worn and may need a replacement. Thus, we may have to budget a bit extra to get these things organized in preparation for the oncoming season.

Uniform
For new players, you can expect uniform expenses in the order of S$100-$150, depending on the extent of equipment that you require. As a bare minimum, unless you have grey baseball pants, you will need to purchase the team cap, jersey and grey pants. Other protective gear, accessories and equipment such as sliding pants, cups, dark navy socks, belts and baseball cleats might be available depending on stock.
The jersey is Rawlings made mesh and suitable for this climate. It is advisable to wear a shirt underneath to protect against abrasions as well as the Singapore sun. The pants is grey. Have a look at one of our pages to get an idea of what our uniform looks like. If you require accessories and equipment such as sliding shorts, socks, shoes, gloves, bats, whatever, we will be able to help you arrange a purchase. The team has access to locally available supplies of reputable manufacturers such as Easton, Rawlings, Mizuno, etc at very attractive prices. You will have a very hard time finding a cheaper source in Singapore. Specific items can also be made available, if you are willing to wait for the shipment to come in. Jersey numbers are allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis. We apologize if due to prior member selection, your preferred jersey number choice is no longer available.
