Former Bulldogs reunite!

Several former Bulldog players from the past 11 seasons gathered Friday at Church of the Open Door to play a spirited alumni basketball game, complete with fans (some familiar "diehards"), throw-back jerseys, and more than a few smiles and good-natured ribbing. After squeezing into the original uniforms worn by the Bulldogs from the 98-99 season until the 2001-02 season (who would have thought those uniforms would have SHRUNK that much?!), the 13 players showed glimpses of some of the talent and passion for the game that has made Bulldog basketball synonymous with "success" over the past 11 years.

The game seemed to have it all: as Mark Gerhart and Nate Lankford were raining threes like the good ol' days, Adam Nugent was showing his kids what the word "hustle" means, diving on the floor for loose balls and taking charges (he says this was only a "pick-up" game?). Josh Fry and Jimmy Pastucha mixed it up inside, while Seth McLane proved he's never met a reverse lay-up he doesn't like! Coach Ackerman tried his best to referee (okay, maybe "tried" is a bit strong), but it was hard not to get caught up in the fun, watching his "young men" play once more in Bulldog Blue and White.

Afterwards, most of the group met at the White Rose Bar and Grill for some well-deserved refreshments and more than a few hours of catching-up and reminiscing.  Special thanks to all who were able to make either the game or the social hour(s) afterwards, including: Seth McLane, Mark Trimmer, Josh Fry, Jeremy Overlander, Jimmy Pastucha, Chase Trimmer, Brian Long, Cory Kane, Tim Llewellyn, Nate Lankford, Adam Nugent, Ben Cable, Andrew Zmolek, and Coach Z - a special thanks to Mark Gerhart for sparking this idea, the Church of the Open Door for allowing us a place to play, and the White Rose for giving us a place to un-wind after the game!

For those former Bulldogs who didn't have a chance to join in the fun this year, don't worry - the plan is to make this an annual event! It was TOO much fun and rewarding to just let this happen once - let's do it again!

Bulldog Alumni Plan Get-Together!

On Friday, November 27, several past members of the Bulldog Basketball teams during Coach Ackerman's tenure at West York (beginning with the'98-99 season) will come together for an Alumni pick-up basketball game and happy hour social immediately following.  The game will be played at Church of the Open Door from 2:30p-4p. The happy hour social will be held at The White Rose Bar & Grill from 5p-7p.

The outing is the brainchild of Mark Gerhart (class of '02) who first approached Coach Ackerman at the beginning of November with the idea. As to date, several former players have committed to attending and the event promises to be an enjoyable evening for all!

Although playing in the game is reserved only for former players, any Bulldog fan may come and watch and/or meet at the White Rose for the happy hour! Bring your cameras! Hopefully, it will become a yearly event!
