West York Boy's Basketball: Welcome
|
Welcome to the DAWG POUND - official website of the West York Bulldogs!
Bulldog Basketball has long been synonomous with three things: Hard-nosed EFFORT, Unwavering DISCIPLINE, and a never-say-die ATTITUDE. Throughout the past off-season, these attributes have been on display as the players have put in a tremendous amount of personal time and sacrifice to ensure that the Bulldog's history of success will continue through the upcoming 2009-10 season. Although the season's schedule once again promises to be one of the area's toughest, these Dogs are "straining against their chains" to show everyone that West York will be a force with which to be reckoned come December - and hopefully, into February and beyond! Come cheer on the boys this season as they look to add yet another succcessful chapter to the History of Bulldog Basketball!

Once again, the Varsity Bulldogs are competing in the Voni Grimes Fall League sponsored by York City Parks & Rec. The league consists of high school teams from around the area, including representatives from the YAIAA, LL, and Mid-Penn Leagues. Although most teams are missing some key members of their projected 2009-10 teams due to Fall sports, the competition is still fierce and also provides each team with an opportunity to develop some depth on their benches.
Currently, the Bulldogs are 2-0, with hard-fought wins over Manheim Township (in OT) and Elizabethtown. More importantly than the win-loss record, however, is the experience these relatively young Dogs are getting, especially being forced to play without several key post players who are current members of the PIAA powerhouse football team.
All games are played at Voni Grimes gymnasium on College Avenue and are open to the public. West York's remaining schedule is as follows: Sunday Oct 4 vs. Ephrata 7p; Sunday Oct 11 vs. Chambersburg 4p; Sunday Oct 18 vs. Hereford 2p
