Welcome to the DAWG POUND - official website of the West York Bulldogs!
Bulldog Basketball has long been synonomous with three things: Hard-nosed EFFORT, Unwavering DISCIPLINE, and a never-say-die ATTITUDE. Throughout the past off-season, these attributes have been on display as the players have put in a tremendous amount of personal time and sacrifice to ensure that the Bulldog's history of success will continue through the upcoming 2009-10 season. Although the season's schedule once again promises to be one of the area's toughest, these Dogs are "straining against their chains" to show everyone that West York will be a force with which to be reckoned come December - and hopefully, into February and beyond! Come cheer on the boys this season as they look to add yet another succcessful chapter to the History of Bulldog Basketball!
Saturday, December 12
Going into Friday night's game, the Bulldogs knew they would be out-sized by the visiting L-L favorites, Hempfield; but they also knew they wouldn't use that as an excuse as they looked to knock off the Black Knights. In the end, it wasn't as much the Knights' size (although they won the battle of the boards 41-34), as it was their ability to keep coming up with back-breaking play after back-breaking play everytime the Bulldogs threatened. A 14-4 run from the end of the third period to the beginning of the fourth was the final straw for WY, as they were unable to get any closer than 7 down the stretch, eventually succumbing, 66-56.
Bryt Abel had a strong performance with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Mark Fox had a team high 14 points to go along with 5 reb. and 3 steals. Soph. Luke Cable added 10 points.
West York's challenging December schedule continues Tuesday at home as they take on a dangerous Dallastown team, led by junior star Four McGlynn.
