The Wyoming/ West Wyoming/ Exeter 9-10 yr old softball team defeated North Pocono 3-0 Sunday,
07/27/2008 to capture the Little League Section 5 title. The girls will play for the Eastern Regional title
beginning Friday, August 1 at 6pm at the Old Forge Little League complex. As of 07/28/2008 there are
only 8 teams contending for the state title in their division. Congratulations to the young ladies and their
coaches. We are hoping for a big fan turn out Friday to cheer the girls on.

Congratulations to the 11 yr old tournament team and manager Tom Romanelli on winning the West Pittston Tournament. The team downed
Mountaintop 6-3 to claim the title.

Section 5 Little League Junior Teeners Tournament
The Section 5 Little League Junior Teeners Tournament will be held this Thursday through Sunday (July 17-20)
at Shoemaker Field.   Four teams will participate in the double elimination tournament.
Scheduled games at Shoemaker are:

Thursday 5:30 PM  Back Mountain vs. District 17 Champ
Friday:      5:30 PM 
Saturday:  11:00 AM
Sunday :  1PM
Sunday (if needed):  4PM

Starting with the 2008 season, pitchers in all divisions of Little League, from age 7 to 18, will have specific limits for each game, based on their age. The number of pitches delivered in a game will determine the amount of rest the player must have before pitching again.

* Wyoming/West Wyoming Little League Endowment Fund
*****************************************************
Several years ago the Wyoming/ West Wyoming Little League marked a milestone, celebrating its 50th anniversary. The league is now engaging in an ambitious project to secure its future for the next decade and beyond. This year the league established the Wyoming/ West Wyoming Little League Endowment Fund, becoming only the second local little league to institute such a program. The WWWLL Endowment Fund will provide financial security for the league for future generations. The Wyoming/ West Wyoming Little League has been fortunate to receive a challenge grant that will match the donations that the league collects for the endowment fund. This challenge grant provided by a generous donor will insure the little league will continue to be part of the area's social landscape. For every $5,000 raised a matching $5,000 gift will be donated to the endowment fund. This money will be administered by The Luzerne Foundation. The Wyoming/ West Wyoming Little League has kicked off a fundraising campaign offering engraved bricks to individuals, groups, clubs and businesses. The brick will be used to build a patio at the Flack Field complex off Wyoming Avenue. The patio will be at the entrance to the stand and be designed in the shape of a baseball field.
