The Rockies battled back from a 4-0 defecit to take a 7-4 win over the Red Wings in a Position Round game played at Fairport High Acres. Dave Schumacher (5 IP, 5 K's, 4 runs, 2 earned) got the start for the Rockies, while Zach O'Brien(5 .0 IP, 0 runs, 5 K's, 1 hit) started for the Wings. The Wings broke open a scoreless ballgame with a 4 run fifth inning. O'Brien led off the inning with a single. The next Wing dropped down a great bunt that was booted and a comebacker to the mound also was misplayed and the Wings had the bases loaded and no outs. Two base hits and a walk later and the Wings had plated four runs for a 4-0 lead. Chuck Healey Jr. pitched a scoreless sixth for the Rockies despite giving up 3 hits in the inning. The Rockies finally found their bats in the bottom of the sixth. Mickey Harris(1-3, double)  lead off the inning with a double. Larry Frisa ((1-2) followed with a single. With runners on second and third, Steve MacLean's liner to center field was almost caught by the centerfielder who made a leaping, diving play on the ball only to have it bounce out of his outstretched glove as both Rockies raced across the plate and make the score 4-2 Wings after six. Evan Bickel (3.0 IP, 2K's, O runs, 1 hit) came on to pitch in the seventh and close out the game for the Rockies, facing 10 batters in 3 innings. The Rockies got another run closer in the bottom of the inning. Schumacher singled to lead off the inning, but was forced at second on Craig Brown's ground ball to second. Brown swiped second base and then scored on John Salerno's(1-2, double) double to the left field fence making the score 4-3 Wings. The Rockies finally took the lead in the bottom of the eight. Chuck Healey Sr. pitch hit for Ari Freedman, and worked the count for a lead off walk. One out later Doug Costello(2-3) laid a great bunt down the third base line, hustled to first andbeat it out. The errant throw on the attempted play allowed Freedman, who had re-entered for Healey Sr. to score and Costello to keep on running all the way to third. With two outs, Frisa was hit by a pitch, and Craig Bodensteiner(1-3) came through in the clutch for the Rockies again with an rbi single to score Costello. Mike Coyle was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and MacLean followed with a walk to score Bodi. Frisa then scored on a wild pitch and the Rockies had a 7-4 lead for Bickel who produced a 1-2-3 ninth to wrap up the come-from-behind win for the Rockies and raise their record to 3-3. The Red Wings are showing signs of becoming a decent ball club Zach O'Brien pitched his butt off and the Rockies hadn't solved him when he left. Other than the one error in the eight they also played solid in the field and could have won this one just as easily. Good Luck to the Wings the rest of the way!
