The Rochester Rockies won a tight 6-5 victory over the Twins in a game played at the U of R. Dave Schumacher (4 1/3 IP, 2 hits, 2 K's, 2 runs) started for the Rocks. Evan Bickel (4 2/3 IP, 6 hits, 5 K's 2 runs) came on in relief for the win. The Braves scored twice in the top of th fourth to take a 2-0 lead. The Rockies came back and tied it in their half of the inning. Bill Schnupp(1-1) reached on a walk moved to second on a wild pitch, Jay Mann (1-2) followed with a base hit to score him. Mann moved around the bases on a couple of Twins miscues and wound up scoring on Mike Coyle's (1-2) ground out to shortstop knotting the score at 2-2.
In the bottom of the fifth the Rockies took the lead. Bickel (1-3) doubled with one out. Craig Bodensteiner(1-2) followed with a single to score Bickel and the Rocks led 3-2. Steve MacLean(2-3) led of the sixth with a double down the left field line. Dave Schumacher sacrificed him to third and he canme in on Bill Schnupp's (1-1) rbi single. Coyle doubled with two outs and Chris Tornow (1-2) singled to score Schnupp, and give the Rockies a 5-2 lead.
The Twins scored twice in the seventh to close to 5-4. but the Rockies answered back in the bottom half with one of their own. Mickey Harris (3-3) doubled leading off the inning. John followed with a base hit and Larry Frisa lifted a sac fly to center to score Harris. and give the Rocks a 6-4 edge. The Twins got one more in the top of the eight to close to 6-5. Chad Young singled in the ninth for the Twins and was on third base with two outs when Bickel got the last Twin with a K to end the game. Rockies raise their record to 2-2, while the Twins drop to 0-5. Best of Luck to John Coleman and his revamped team. The team has lots of new faces and will be okay once they jell.
