The Rockies met the Devils in a pre- Mother's Day 3 PM matinee game at the always dry Penfield Sr. diamond in the final game of a three game set for the NABA on the day. The Rockies batted first and Pat Tulloch (3-4, double) led off the game with a base knock. He moved to second on a wayward pickoff attempt, and later scored on Phil Mixter's (3-4, 2 rbi's) base hit to give the Rockies an early 1-0 lead. Mixter (9.0 IP 9k's, 6 hits 1er) started for the Rockies and wound up going the distance for a 6 hit complete game victory. The Devils had runners on 1st and 2nd with one out in the bottom of the first , but Mixter got Scott Webster looking and Rick Dwyer to ground out to short. Neither team scored in the second or third inning. In the top of the fourth the Rockies tacked on another run when Angelo Pedulla reached base and moved to second on an overthrow at first, Ben LaPlante singled to score Pedulla and the Rockies now held a 2-0 lead. A 1-2-3 bottom of the fourth brought the Rockies right back up in the top of the fifth, and they added to the lead with a big dose of "two out" magic. Mickey Harris (2-3, double) doubled with two outs. Tyler Reid (1-4, triple) tripled and scored Harris. Mixter then came up and blasted a hot smash that was too hot to handle for the shortstop to score Reid and give the Rockies a 4 - 0 lead. The bottom of the fifth, the sixth and the Rockies half of the seventh quietly passed except for a leadoff double in the bottom of the 6th by CJ for the Devils. Mixter K'ed the next two Devils and got a ground ball back to the mound to end the threat after the runner had moved to third on a wild pitch. A 1-2-3 top of the seventh got the Devils right back up and they finally broke the seal against Mixter. After two outs, three consecutive hits by Zeke Simbor, John Torlish and an rbi single by Chris Nealon got the Devils on the board and cut the lead to 4-1. In the eigth Mixter singled with one out, stole second and third and scored when the attempt to get him at third got away into the outfield. Mixter k'd 3 of the next seven Devils he faced over the final two innnings to close out the victory and raise the Rockies record to 2-0 on the young season. The Devils drop to 1-1 after an opening day win  7-6 over the Chasers.

The Rockies played Opening Day at the cavernous and well groomed Penfield Senior League field on a perfect day for baseball in a match-up with the newly formed Bonadent Bombers. Brian Cowell (6 IP, 3 K's , 6 hits) took the hill for the Rockies and left after 6 innings with a 4-3 lead. Brent Wasson (1 IP, 1 hit, 2 bb's 2runs) came on in relief and wound up the winner after the Bombers took a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh, only to lose it in the bottom of the inning as the Rockies produced a 5 run rally in a game shortened by umpire after seven.

The Bombers in their first game ever were late arriving to the field but wasted no time in getting on the board in the top of the first. Rockie errors on the first two infield balls, a fly ball and a base hit lead to a run before the Rockies settled down and played the last two ground balls into force outs at first. Mickey Harris (2-3 triple 2 rbi's) singled with one out, stole second and third and then  scored on Phil Mixter's (2-2,double sac,3 rbi's) sacrifice fly to knot the score at 1. A scoreless second followed with Colwell allowing a leadoff double, then getting a groundball to short that moved the runner to third, a fly ball to center looked like it might get the run in, but Tulloch caught the ball on the move and threw a bullet to home and catcher Freddie Flo applied the tag on the surprised runner for the third out. In the third veteran Rockie Bill Schnupp (1-1, 2 walks) worked the count for a walk,Pat Tulloch also drew a walk, Ari Freedman ran for Schnupp, stole second, moved to third an a wild pitch and then scored on another one, Mickey Harris reached on a walk and stole second. Mixter singled again to drive in Tuloch and the Rockies had a 3-1 lead. A scoreless 4th inning followed, but The Bombers tied the game in the fifth. A leadoff hit, a stolen base, a fly ball to center, and three consecutive hits by the Bombers 2,3,and 4 hitters lead to 2 runs and a 3-3 tie. The Rockies went in order in the bottom of the inning as did the Bombers in the top of the sixth. The Rockies took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Mixter lead off with a walk and quickly stole second and third, then scored on Angelo Pedulla's (3-3, 3 rbi's) single and the Rockies had regained the lead 4-3. In the top of the seventh Wasson came on to pitch for Colwell, threw 2 ground ballsand  got the first two outs, but then a walk, a stolen base and a wild pitch tied the score. An error,  a walk and a base hit up the middle and the Bombers had their first lead of the game going into the bottom of the last frame of a game shortened by the umpire's. The Rockies used the same formula they had earlier to come back and regain ther lead to get the victory. Schnupp and Tulloch both earned walks. Harris drove one into the opposite field gap to the fence for a triple, plating both runners with what would be the tying and winning runs. Tyler Reid (2-4, double, rbi) drove in Harris, Mixter doubled in Reid, Pedulla singled in Mixter and the Rockies had a 5 run rally to lead 9-5 as time expired and the game was called. The Rockies go to 1-0 on the season, while the Bombers suffered their first loss ever. Both teams will square off again and the Bombers should prove to be a very competitive team this year.
