Awarded $1500 USATF Grant

USATF Foundation announces 15 Youth Grant recipients

INDIANAPOLIS - The USA Track & Field Foundation has awarded 15 youth grants to USATF clubs throughout the country, Chairman Bob Greifeld and Executive Director Tom Jackovic announced. The grants assist young athletes with expenses such as travel to meets, equipment, uniforms, awards and facility rental.

"The Foundation is delighted to award these grants, which provide opportunities for local communities to expose their young people to the benefits of track and field," said Foundation Director Paul Lilly."We encourage other fans to join us in helping America's youth athletes discover their potential."

USATF Foundation grants were made to the following clubs:

* Awesome Power Track Club (NY), $1500

* C.L Athletics Stars Track Club (TX), $2000

* DeKalb County Express Track Club, (GA), $1500

* Hilltop Speed Track Club (CA), $1500

* Hub City Runners (MD,) $1500

* Inlet Grove Track & Field (FL), $1500

* Lincoln Heights Track Club (NJ), $1500

* Massey Miracle Run (LA), $2000

* SE Mississippi Track Club (MA), $1500

* Newfane Elementary Track Club (VT), $600

* Prospect Park Youth Running Club (NY), $1500

* Randleman Elementary School (NC), $750

* Southeast Middle School (CA), $1000

* Superior Track Club (CO), $1500

* Throw 1 Deep Club (GA), $1500

The USATF Foundation provides a means to attract and guide funds to new and innovative track and field programs, with an emphasis on providing opportunities for youth athletes, emerging athletes and anti-doping education. The Foundation each year awards more than half a million dollars in grants and other support. Its programs depend on donations from its Board of Directors and from generous fans of track & field. Prospect Park Cross Country is all heart at the USATF Region 1 Championship in Augusta, Maine.

 

12 Athletes made the long drive to Augusta Maine....and it was worth every second.

 

We are so proud of Bridget, Joshua, Sydney, Rory, Annaliese, Ethan, Marley, Aviv, Sofia, Brandon, JC, and Bryan for running the extremely hilly course.  All 12 runners ran with with a ton of heart.  Despite the difficult course, our athletes times were fast and competitive with the best athletes from the Adirondack, Connecticut, Long Island, New York, Maine, Massachusettes, Vermont, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.

Great job by all.  Next Sunday is the Association Championships at Van Cortlandt Park.  We are in a good position to be very competitive in each division.  Also, we will need to know everyone's plans for Florida by Tuesday.  We found a very good rate on a hotel.  It will be posted in the next day or so.  We will need to know how many people and the DAYS of travel for each family.  If you would like to discuss the trip, please call or email me, asap.

40 Boys and Girls from the PPYRC challenged the hills at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday-October 11.  The team offered some great performances and major improvements in all races.  Smart race tactics and strong finishes placed Prospect Park among the day's top teams.
