GRAND NATIONAL TOURNEY & FREE ARROW CLINIC
The GRAND NATIONAL tourney is being held in Brookings this year. This is very cool to have this tourney so close. Coach Althoff has organized a FREE clinic for all Watertown wrestlers to help prepare for this tourney. The Booster Club has agreed to purchase red & blue singlets (they are required for this tourney) & we will also organize transportation for anyone wanting to wrestle. Beens it is so close, we'd love to have a good showing. See handouts for details & registration form!

Iowa Wrestling 2007-2008 National Champions
CLINICIANS:Tom Brands-Head CoachThe 2008 WCA Big Ten Coach of the year, Tom Brands is in his third season as head wrestling coach at the University of Iowa, A 1996 Olympic gold medalist and member of wrestlings hall of fame. Brands is only the eight wrestling coach at the University of Iowa. The former Hawkeye wrestler was a four time all american and three time national champion (1989-1992) at Iowa. He has a 35-6 overall and 13-3 Big Ten record at Iowa, and a 52-26 career mark.
Joe Slayton2007-08--All american placing second at 133 pounds at NCAA Championships..placed third at Big Ten Championships...went 31-5 in collegiate matches, 18-3 in dual competition and 7-1 in Big Ten duals, scoring 67 points in dual matches...posted a 6-1 record at Carver-Hawkeye Arena..ranked second on team in major decisions (10) and technical falls (2) and third in fastest fall (0.47)..named Wrestler of the Week by the Big Ten and TheMat.com Dec 12th..won Midlands title..won Kaufman-Brand O while competing unattached..earned team all-American award..letter winner.
Ryan Morningstar2007-08--placed seventh at the Big Ten Championships to qualify for NCAA Championships..season record was 22-14 at 157 pounds..went 13-9 in dual competitions and 2-6 in Big Ten duals, scoring 47 team points in dual matches..went 5-4 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena..placed fifth at Midlands Championships..scored six major decisions, one technical fall and one pin..letter winner..runner-up at 163 pounds at Northern Plains trials.
