The 13 year old preparatory league is an excellent opportunity for players to gain experience competing on the larger field used at the High School level (90 foot bases, 60 foot pitching mound to plate). The format is competitive with teams representing Torrance, West Torrance, El Segundo, Culver City, Lomita and Westchester Babe Ruth programs on the schedule. The West Torrance Babe Ruth field is located at Entradero Park in Torrance. Games are played at the West Torrance field and facilities located within the league boundaries noted above.
The first portion of the 13 year old Preparatory Babe Ruth season runs in parallel with the High School baseball season. Following the completion of the CIF High School schedule, 13 Year old prep players have the opportunity to compete in the 13-15 year old league with High School players that register to play. Towards the end of the Babe Ruth season, select 13 year old players will have the additional opportunity of competing in the District, Regional, State play-offs.
West Torrance Babe Ruth’s boundaries cover an area which allows players from West and South Torrance, Rancho Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills Estates most of San Pedro and Harbor City to participate.
