DRAFTS IN TWO WEEKS --- PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS ACCORDINGLY
The drafts for the basketball players for the winter recreational season will be held on Monday November 28 and Thursday, December 1.  EVERY PLAYER MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE DRAFT TO BE ELIGIBLE TO PLAY --- NO EXCEPTIONS!  It is highly recommend that in order to properly make the teams fair and equal that the players attend BOTH DRAFT SESSIONS.  The draft times and locations by division are as follows:
BOYS BASKETBALL
  • Division 1 (ages 5 and under) --- there no drafts for this division.  There will be a divisional meeting at the beginning of December.  Please check your emails for further updates;
  • Division 2 (ages 6/7) --- School 5 from 6:30 - 8 pm.  Erik Coleman is the divisional commissioner;
  • Division 3 (ages 8/9) --- School 6 from 6:30 - 8 pm.  Leon Alexander will be the point person for the drafts;
  • Division 4 (ages 10/11) --- Middle School main gym from 6:30 - 8 pm.  Andy Noel is the divisional commissioner;
  • Division 5 (ages 12/13) --- High School auxiliary gym from 6:30 - 8 pm.  Bill Waller will be the point person for the drafts;
  • Division 6 (ages 14 and up) --- Middle School main gym from 8:00 - 9:30 pm.  Lynn Winston/Jeff Bolden are the divisional commissioners.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
  • ALL the girls divisions draft will take place at the Middle School auxiliary gym from 7:30 - 9 pm.
TRAVEL TEAMS
  • This year there will be at least a 5th grade boys team, 6th grade boys team, 7/8th grade boys team, 6th grade girls team, and 7/8th grade girls team.  Individual tryouts for those teams will be released by Monday, November 15.  If your child is interested in trying out (there is no guaranteed spot), please email us at wtbaprez@aol.com
CHEERLEADING
  • We have received overwhelming interest and registrations for our cheerleading program.  We look forward to getting underway with our third year of cheerleading!  Tentatively, there will be a cheerleading meeting on Monday November 28 in the School 6 cafeteria at 6:30 pm (time and date are subject to change).  If you are cheerleading, you need to attend this meeting.
ADDITIONAL RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR THE UPCOMING SEASON
  • All parents will be required to sign and adhere to a PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT form.  This year we will be implementing a "zero-tolerance policy" across the board.  If the parent does not sign the form, the child will not participate.
  • There will be no registrations or add-ons after the first game without the express approval of the Board.
  • All coaches will be required to wear a long-sleeve "WTBA coach" shirt at every game.  This will identify you as a coach to the parents and referees.
  • Finally - WTBA will be providing a "SKILLZ AND DRILLZ" training group every Monday night at the Middle School main gym from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.  The cost will be $10 per player/per session.  That's $5 an hour and the best price you will find anywhere!  WTBA recognizes the continued need to provide all of our children with basic, repetitive skills and drills to advance to the next level.  The first session will be Monday, December 6 and will run until the end of the season.  All WTBA players are invited.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at wtbaprez@aol.com.  Thank you and we look forward to another great season.
