Police Vulnerable Sector Check

All WSSA coaches must obtain a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC). Screening of coaches is an important part of providing a safe environment and has become common practice among organizations in the non-profit sector that provide programs and services to youth in the community. The WSSA is responsible, at law, to do everything reasonable to provide a safe and secure environment for participants in its programs and has developed a policy on PVSCs to fulfil this legal responsibility.

To apply for a PVSC, you must:

  • Be a resident of York Region with proof of residency.
  • Provide two pieces of government issued identification, one of which includes a photo.
  • Obtain a letter from the WSSA Organization requesting a PVSC. This must be signed by a WSSA organization member.

You can obtain the PVSC application form (YRP149) from a York Regional Police location or from their website, or you can apply online. Processing time normally takes 2-4 weeks.

All the information, including requirements, process, locations and forms, can be found on the York Regional Police website

There is a fee that will be reimbursed by the WSSA. Please keep your receipt and submit it to the WSSA when you submit your completed PVSC.

We appreciate your support in protecting our members and participants. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at wssaball@gmail.com.
