Whitchurch-Stouffville Softball Association: 2017 Season Divisions

U4 Learn to Play Jr.
For girls and boys born in 2013. This division is an 8-week program starting the first Thursday in June. They will play on Thursday evenings from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM at local Stouffville diamonds. Children will learn the basic fundamentals of softball through age-appropriate activities. Tees and foam bats are used for hitting and softer, smaller balls for easier handling. This age group is formed with 8 players per team.

U5 LTP - Blast T-Ball
For girls and boys born in 2012. This division will play on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 PM to 7:45 PM at local Stouffville diamonds. The season starts in late May. Format: Practice 6:45 to 7:00 PM, Break 7:00 to 7:10 PM, Game 7:10 to 7:45 PM. Children hit off a tee and use a softer ball. All players bat each inning. Umpires are not used at this level. This age group is formed with 10 players per team. This is Level 1 of Learn to Play.

U6 LTP - T3 Pitch
For girls and boys born in 2011. This division will play on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 PM to 7:45 PM at local Stouffville diamonds. Season starts in late May. Format: Practice 6:45 to 7:00 PM, Break 7:00 to 7:10 PM, Game 7:10 to 7:45 PM. Children are successful each time at bat as they are pitched 3 balls by a coach on their team and, if unsuccessful, will be given a tee to hit off. All players bat each inning. Umpires are not used at this level. This age group is formed with 10 players on a team. This is level 2 of Learn to Play.

U7 5 Pitch - Coach Pitch
For girls and boys born in 2010. This division will play on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at local Stouffville diamonds. Season starts late May. Format: Practice 6:30 to 7:00 PM, Game 7:00 to 8:00 PM. In Coach Pitch children are pitched 5 balls by a coach on their team. This is level 1 of 5 Pitch.

U8 5 Pitch - Player Pitch
For girls and boys born in 2009. This division will play on Monday evenings from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at local Stouffville diamonds. Season starts late May. Format: Practice 6:30 to 7:00 PM, Game 7:00 to 8:00 PM. A ‘friendly pitcher’ (player from the same team) will pitch 5 balls to the batter. Runs are counted and teams switch after 3 outs. This is level 2 of 5 Pitch.

U10 Mite Girls and Boys
For girls and boys born in 2007-2008. This is the first division where players are split by gender. Girls will play on Thursday evenings and boys will play on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 PM to 8:15 PM. Practice nights are scheduled for Tuesday nights on alternating weeks. The pitcher will pitch to the opposing team. Stealing rules are modified. Ball size is 11 inches. Runs are counted and teams switch after 3 outs.

U12 Squirt Girls and Boys
For girls and boys born in 2005-2006. In this division, players are split by gender. Girls will play on Thursday evenings and boys will play Wednesday evenings from 6:30 PM to 8:15 PM. Practice nights are scheduled for Tuesday nights on alternating weeks. Similar format as the Mite division, with further pitching and base distances and unlimited stealing. Travel to surrounding towns will be introduced. Squirt Girls will travel to Richmond Hill and Aurora. The Squirt Boys loop is still to be determined.

U14 Novice Girls
For girls born in 2003-2004. This division participates in the York North Loop and travels to Richmond Hill and Aurora. Night of play is Tuesday evening from 8:30 PM to 10:15 PM. Practice nights will be scheduled on Mondays or Wednesdays. This format is similar to the Squirt division, with further pitching and base distances. Ball size changes to 12 inches.

U14 Peewee Boys
For boys born in 2003-2004. This division participates in the Bradford Loop and travels to different towns, each team having a home diamond on a different night. Stouffville’s home night is primarily Thursday with some home games on Wednesday. Nights of play will vary each week Monday through Thursday from 8:00 PM to 10:15 PM. Practice nights will be scheduled on Mondays or Fridays. This format is similar to the Squirt division, with further pitching and base distances. Ball size changes to 12 inches.

U16 Bantam
For co-ed players born in 2001-2002. This division participates in the Bradford Loop and travels to different towns, each team having a home diamond on a different night. Stouffville’s home night is primarily Wednesday with some home games on Tuesday. Nights of play will vary each week Monday through Thursday from 8:30 PM to 10:15 PM. Bantam girls have the option to play Bantam Co-ed or Novice Girls. This format is similar to the Peewee/Novice divisions, with further pitching and base distances.

U19 Midget
For co-ed players born in 1998-2000. This division participates in the Bradford Loop and travels to different towns, each team having a home diamond on a different night. Stouffville’s home night is primarily Wednesday with some home games on Tuesday. Nights of play will vary each week Monday through Thursday from 8:30 PM to 10:15 PM. This format is similar to the Bantam division, with further pitching and base distances.
