As you would be well aware, 2008 season celebrates the 150th year of Australian Rules Foot ball. The Ovens and Murray Football League has made available a set of Heritage jumpers to all clubs to commemorate this occasion and to be worn against a nominated side both home and away.
We have already worn ours against Wodonga Raiders at their venue and will repeat this at home on Saturday August 2nd at the W J Findlay Oval. Our jumper is the old Brown with White vee neck which many old timers would well remember.
For simplicity sake the set was ordered with sublimated numbers from number one to number 25 inclusive. It goes without saying that they have created a great impression and there has been much conjecture as to their fate after August 2nd.
To retain their ‘heritage’ value and importance to the Club and past and present players, it has been decided to ‘auction’ the jumpers off, culminating with final bids at the annual Members and Hall of Fame night scheduled for August 23rd after our home match against Corowa – Rutherglen.
In the meantime we have established a bidding table on our website( as indicated in header above) to keep all interested parties abreast of current bids for each jumper. To participate follow these simple processes:
All jumpers have been set at a reserve of $100
Bids to be in lots of $10, without exception including last successful bid
To place a bid on any jumper email wrfc@bigpond.net.au; fax to 03 5721 2644; mail to PO Box Wangaratta 3676 suppling your Name, Address, Phone contact and your current bid. If you wish to nominate a secret maximum bid include.
Monitor the progress of your jumper on our website or advise us of a fax number and we will send periodical updates.
Any leading bidders not able to attend on night will be updated just prior to event and hopefully contactable during final auction.
This is a great opportunity to grab a piece of history for the family heirlooms to be treasured by later generations. We have included some photo shots for your information and you will notice some great familiar faces.The proceeds of the auction will be shared equally between the Club and Players Fund.
