Washington Leads 'Crew to Win!!!!
Holy Cross High School-Coming off a heartbreaking lost to the North Conference powerhouse Bandits last week 26-25, the Wrecking Crew football team took out there frustration on the Longhorns, winning 30-0.
Lead by two spectacular touchdown runs by wide receiver Marquis Washington and a dominating, aggressive defense, the Crew raced to a 24-0 halftime lead.
"The defense has been playing good all year. I thought in our loss last week they played good enough to win." said head coach Hector Muniz.
"If we our going to meet expectations this year, our defense is going to take us there first and foremost" Muniz said.
The defense may take them there, but the offense is making it a lot easier. Scoring at will most of the game, the Longhorns saw just how many weapons the Crew had as three different players scored with Washington scoring twice. Leonard 'L' Walker would had have made it four, but had a 80 yard kickoff return for a touchdown brought back due to a holding call.
"They can do better. We have guys on this squad that our great individual players. As soon as we figure out how to play as one unit, one machine, we or going to be tough." Muniz said.
Next up for the Crew, the winless Phoenix. "This is going to be a weird game to play. The anxiety of number 27 cutting back on us for a touchdown is going to kill me." Muniz said.

Defense Leads Crew to Big Win!!!!!
Holy Cross High School-In a performance that was best in team history, the Texas Sixman Football Associations best defense shut the Rhinos down in the second half, leading the Crew to a 19 to 15 victory. With the win,the Crew set up a season ending show down for the regular season South Conference championship against the defending champion Rough Riders.
"I said it earlier in the season,we will go as far as the defense takes us." said Hector Muniz, head coach."I saw a defense come into to its own today. They played as team today. Six players to the ball. Now we need them to do it for three more weeks."
The Crew took a 6 point lead after taking the opening drive in for a score as Steven Owens hit Gilbert Andrade in the endzone. The Rhinos would answer with two more scores to take a 15 to 6. At that point, the Wrecking Crew defense took over not allowing the Rhinos to see the endzone again.
Silk Booth would score right before the half to make it 15 to 12.
With the offense sputtering out of the half, the Crew defense went thru a stretch of holding the Rhinos scoreless for four straight drives, including two goaline stops that save the game.
"They didn't save the game. They won it." Muniz said.
In a game that saw great, saleout plays by linebacker Joey Gonzalez, ends Arron Alejandro and Joey Garza , cornerback JT Taylor, safety Mondo Cruz and cornerback BJ Gonzalez, the biggest play was made by cornerback Josh Martinez recovering a fumble on the Crews ten yard line that ended the game after Booth hit Taylor for a long touchdown pass to take a 19 to 15 lead with just under two minutes.
With the win, the crew now faces the Riders, a team never beaten by the Crew.
"They are a great team. Good players. The champs." Muniz said.
"But we plan on winning. Hands down we are going to leave it all on the field. Play as a team and take care of business." Muniz said.

Wrecking Crew Loses Finale!
Holy Cross High School- In a unusually cold day in April and the final game of the regular season, the Wrecking Crew football team lost to the defending TSFA champion Ruff Riders 33 to 21. With the loss, the Crew dropped to the number two seed in the Southern Conference playoff bracket and a first round battle with the Rhinos next Sunday.
The game started out in the Crews favor with the defense going out and stopping the Rides on the first drive. The offense could not take advantage of the early momentum as the Riders defense was out to prove who had the best defense in the league.
"I thought we played decent on defense. Considering what Bobby Price had to adjust to on the go." head coach Hector Muniz said.
Muniz spoke of defensive end Arron Alejandro who injured himself in practice the night before.
"Offensively,we played better then last week, believe it or not. We caught the ball better. Less drops. If we could have got alittle better start on that side of the ball, things may have been alittle different." Muniz said.
"The score the offense gave up in the third quarter was the difference maker."Muniz said.
"It was a tough loss, but not the end of our season. We will get over this. We will come out to our next practice and get ready for the next 'biggest game' of our season." Muniz said.
"The great thing about this team is they understand we need to come out and work harder then ever now."
The first round of the playoffs brings in a hungry Rhinos team ready to avenge a lost in the regular season.
"We will welcome this game with open arms. This is why we play in this league. And when we are done this Sunday,we come out to practice next week and get ready for another 'big game of the season and the same the following week after that. 8-2 is a good record and we will build off of it." Muniz said.
So, the big question is can the Crew rebound after a big lost?
"You are dam right we are!" Muniz said.

Crew Beats Rhinos to Play in First Conference Championship!
Holy Cross High School-In a game decide in the forth quarter, once again it was the defense that save the day, as the Crew pulled out a hard fought win, 25 to 14 over the Rhinos in a featured Texas Sixman Football Association first round matchup.
The games story line was pretty much the same as the regular season meeting. The Crew scored first taking a 6 to 0 lead. The Rhinos fired back with a score on a long run right before the half, taking a 8 to 6 lead.
Coming out of the half, the Rhinos brought back the kick off to the Crews 5 yard line. They would punch it in two plays later to take a 14 to 6 lead.
"At that point, this team could have quit. Laid down and died. But they didn't. They kept on playing and knowing we were still in this. That's all you can ask for." head coach Hector Muniz said.
With the patients, the offense took a drive into the end zone to pull the game to 14 to 12 in the forth quarter.
At that point, the defense took over taking a botch snap and turning it into 6 points giving the Crew a 19 to 14 lead that they would not give up.
The Rhinos next drive would be their final of the season as the Crew would intercept a pass. The offense would add one more score to make the final score 25 to 14.
"It felt like we were losing the whole game, but we pulled it out." Safety Mondo Cruz said.
With the win, the Crew set up a rematch with the defending champs Ruff Riders who won in the last meeting two weeks ago 33 to 21.
"It will be a very intense, hard fought game. But this team knows what's at stake here and will come to play." Muniz said.
"This team is not ready to go home."

Hungry Wrecking Crew Team Looking To Take South
In a game for bragging rights in the Southern Conference, the Wrecking Crew Football team are waiting for Sunday with much anticipation. A high stakes game in the Texas Sixman Football Association playoffs, the winner moving on to played for the storied Epler Cup.
Already, the Crew are consider the underdog.
"Good teams turn into to great teams with games like this. We just need to go out and play to our potential and the questions will answer themselves." head coach Hector Muniz said.
"I don't care what others think. We (coaches)know what kind of character we have on this team. Our team will be ready." Muniz said.
The Crew defense has much to say about this game. The Riders put up a season high 26 points. For much of the game shouts from the Riders sidelines of "suspect defense" were heard. The Riders ran the ball like know other team in the league has all season.
"We need to know our assignments and stay in good position" linebacker Joey Gonzales said.
The offense is another story. Very explosive in the first two-thirds of the season, the last few games have been tough going.
"True. Abit of slump if you want to call it that." Muniz said.
"I like to think of it as better teams. We are going on our forth game were we have to face a top team in our league. Great teams. The Rhinos have a very tough defense. Hitters all up front and good athletes. We saw the Riders a few weeks back in the worst condition possible. Locker rooms are a Hugh advantage, but its the way it is."
referring to the Riders use of the Holy Cross High School Locker room or weight room.
"Not using that as a excuse. I thought we played well under the conditions and number of players we had to go with. If we don't turn it over on offense and give them a cheap one, it's closer at the end. A different game." Muniz said.
With the Riders assuring victory on the league website message board, the Crew can only use that to put a chip on their shoulder and go out and win.
"We our a good team and as I said before, we are by no means planning on the season ending this weekend." Muniz said.

Wrecking Crew Claim First Southern Conference Championship!
Holy Cross High School-In the short three year history of the Wrecking Crew sixman football teams existence in the Texas Sixman Football Association, the team has seen thier share of emotional games. The Mud Bowl in the Crews first year or the "the drive" in the '05 playoffs against,at that time, their rival Red Raiders are defining moments in team history. Well the Crew can now add one more to that list.
In a game of David vs Goliath proportions, Wrecking Crew defensive end Arron Alejandro made "the pick" that would win the game.
With a 46 to 38 victory over the defending champion Ruff Ryder, the Crew claimed the Southern Conference championship and a date with the Northern Conference Champion Bandits for the Epler Cup.
The win did not come easy.
With less then a minute to go and the ball on the Crews one yard line. The Ryders Qb rolled right and threw back across the field to one of his receivers; but Alejandro trailed backside and leap up to make a fingertip interception for the Crew.
"Arron saved are butts. He sold out like alot of others on this football team did. I said it before, this is a good group of players that will not give up till the final second and i am proud to be there coach." head coach Hector Muniz said.
In a game that could be put with the epic games in the history of the TSFA, it was a shootout. Each offense scoring at will with the Crew scoring seven times lead by Silk Booth and Leonard 'L' Walker. If Silk or Walker were not running up and down the field, Silk was finding open receivers Derek Cantu,Rick Encina,Steven Owens or JT Taylor for big gains.
"Our offense had alot to prove today. You could see it on their faces, they were ready today. Unstoppable." Muniz said.
With a young and hungry team coming off the biggest win in team history, the Bandits will be waiting. The Bandits represent one of the two losses for the Crew this season.
"Good teams become great teams with wins like today. These players proved what hard work, dedication and sacrifice for the team will pay off for you in the end. We have to go out there and get one more win and our team goals will be met." Muniz said.
" I know these Bandits will come to play, but we are a battled tested squad coming out of the best sixman conference in Texas. We will come to play and let the cards fall were they may. Matter of fact it's time to stop talking and get ready for the last biggest game of the year." Muniz said.
Well Crew, sounds like you can enjoy the win tonight, but wake up thinking about Texas Sixman Football Association Championship game.
One more!

Henry 'SILK' Booth-Epler Cup IX MVP
Holy Cross High School- On a cloudy Sunday morning, the Texas Sixman Football Association's Epler Cup IX, signifying the champion was on the line. With great champions of the 'cup' such as the Wolfpack,Rhinos,Ryders and Bandits, a new name will now be included in that list.
In a second half surge, the Crew secured the 'cup' and became the TSFA champions of the 2007 season with a 44 to 31 victory over the four time champion Bandits.
The Crew started out quickly with Silk Booth hitting JT Taylor on a short pass that Taylor would take in for a score.
"We came out strong on offense. I think that our offense hit its groove last week against the Ryders. Not a bad time to start." head coach Hector Muniz said.
"No disrespect to the Bandits. They our a great team. All you have to look at is their four championships, but i thought we won the title last weekend against the Ryders. That game took alot out of this team and it showed in the first half. This team has grown up this year and they knew coming out of the half they needed to respond." Muniz said.
With the offense scoring at will coming out of the half lead by Epler Cup MVP Booth, Taylor and Leonard 'L' Walker and the defense scoring on a fumble recovery by linebacker Joey Gonzales, the Crew busted the game open and never looked back.
"This is a great moment for alot of guys on this team. We have players and coaches who have waited 7 or 8 years to get the 'cup'. Myself included." Muniz said.
After the game seemed more like a high school city championship had been won as fans were taking pictures and hugging players.
"It was never like this when we won." Booth said referring to the two championships he won with the Bandits.
"I am proud of everyone of these guys and will always have their back. I have been hard on them. Some of them since day one. Now they are champions. They proved to themselves that hard work for the team will always get you to the top." Muniz said.
"We are the best. The champs..........when does the season get started again?"

Wrecking Crew football.....first year 4 and 7,second round playoff loss to the Rage

second year 6 and 3,second round lost to the Ryders

Third year 11 and 2.........CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!

Not bad.......but now the question is can you repeat?
"No comment. Think we will enjoy this for awhile."
