The McKay Club was established in 1984. The team is proud to be one of 15 Franchises in the Yawkey Baseball League of Boston, MA. The YBL is sponsored by the Yawkey Foundation - Boston Trust and is affiliated with the Boston Red Sox.
The McKay Club is one of the winningest teams in league history. The Shamrocks were YBL Finalists in 1992,1998 & 2000. The McKay Club boasts 7 Conference Championships in the 1980's & 1990's.
The team is based in the Dorchester section of the City of Boston and plays its home games at Ronan Park.
It was fitting that the McKay Club captured its 7th Conference Championship to kick off Y2K!
The 2000 McKay Club captured the right to face off against defending Yawkey League Champs Somerville by amassing a 18-7 record. This was the second straight year the Shamrocks won the Tarpey Conference Championship. Somerville prevailed in the best of 7 game series and won a Third league Championship. The highlight of the Championship Round were Game 1 (1-0) & Game 2 (3-2) Somerville victories.
2001 was another great year for the Club. Our team finished 2 points off the top of the Tarpey Conference with a 21-11 record. We were a few runs short of making it to the YBL Finals.
The 5 Game Quarter Final Series won by the Club over West Roxbury was one of the most memorable series in YBL history. That series drained all the energy from the Club. Brighton Liccoln Sox swept the Club 3-0 in the Semi-Finals. Brighton took the first game 10-3. The Bull Dogs did fight hard and lost two games in the last at bat 4-3 in the that round.
