West Portage Little League: WPLL 2016 Season Divisions
This is our starter division. Both boys and girls from ages 4 - 6 are encouraged to have fun, learn how to throw, hit, and run. This is a fun time for both players and parents. Many smiles are created as each player get to run the bases and get a home run!
This division is the next stage after t-ball for our young baseball players ages 6-7. In Coach pitch, the coach will pitch to each player as each hitters hand-eye coordination continues to develop. Don't worry, if after a few pitches a hit is not achieved, the hitting tee will be brought out so each player gets a hit every time. This is done a lot early in the season.
This baseball division is the first time players will be able to hit from a pitching machine. This division is recommended for players that are 7-8. The velocity of the pitches increase but the placement of the ball in the strike zone is improved. Defensive positioning is reinforced. Kids get to slide for the first time. Strike outs can occur after a certain number of pitches which prepares the players for the player pitch division in future years.
For ages 9-12. Player evaluations are conducted to place players in the AA, AAA, or Major Division based on skill. This baseball division is our first player pitch division. Last year, the first of the two games each week made use of the pitching machine to provide consistency for the hitters. The second game of the week is pitched by the players as they gain arm strength and accuracy. Strategy is learned and enforced as this division starts a more competitive level.
For ages 9-12. Player evaluations are conducted to place players in the AA, AAA, or Major Division based on skill. This baseball division is our second level in the player pitch division. Competition is increased.
