End of Season Celebration

We are sorry the opening day ceremonies did not work out this year, but the end of season celebration is still on!   Mark your calendars for Saturday June 12th.

Weather Cancellation

Worthington Little League uses Action Answering Service as its primary way to communicate game cancellations (304-424-0040).   We also will be updating the web page with this information in 2010.   A couple key points on weather cancellation:

*Our goal is to get the scheduled games in, so many times the decision to cancel is late in the day.

*Rarely would a decision to cancel be made before 2 pm during the work week.

*We know that not knowing can be difficult and impact your day.  We do ask for your patience.  All of our coaches and league officials are volunteers, who in most cases do not arrive at the fields much before our players and their families.

Safety Rules

The board addressed several items related to safety.  We ask that parents help our coaches enforce these rules at our fields.

 1.  All baseball takes place inside the fenced areas.  Players should not be outside the playing field warming up or swinging the bat.  Both of these activities endanger family members who are watching the games.

2.  No swinging of bats in the dugout area.  Only the first batter at the beginning of each half inning can warm up with a bat and they must be in the field of play.

3.  Only players should be warming up pitchers on the playing fields and must have a catcher mask and catchers glove on while doing so.

4.  "Donuts" on the bats are not allowed.

Of course as in the past no smoking or pets are allowed at the Worthington Fields.

Umpire Clinic

On March 13th the league conducted an umpire clinic.  This is an annual event where our umpires can learn about rule changes and discuss scenarios they will see on the field.

Did you know that all of Worthington Little League umpires are volunteers?   They have a difficult job and they dedicate many hours to the league.   Each year they try to improve their knowledge and skill at this clinic.

Worthington Little League appreciates their umpires!  When you see an umpire thank them for their time and effort.

If you are interested in becoming a league umpire contact Kevin Barker.

Sunday, February 21
Sponsorship Drive

We are actively seeking sponsors for the 2010 season.  Worthington Little League is fully funded by our league families and our valued sponsors.  Without our sponsors we would not exist.  If you would like to participate as a sponsor or know someone who would, please contact Ross Snyder, Connie McAtee or any board member.

Team sponsors   $350

Sign sponsors    $250

Field sponsors   $1000
