Welcome to the website for the W.T. Woodson High School Cavaliers baseball program in Fairfax, Virginia.

All players interested in trying out for baseball this spring should attend a meeting after school on Thursday at 2:15 in Coach Warren’s room, G207.  If they have not turned in their physical they should give that to Mr. Redmond or Mrs. Fickes ASAP.  Additionally, players should bring a copy of their emergency care cards to the meeting if they have not given it to Coach Warren yet.  Lastly, parents and players are reminded that they must take the concussion test online ASAP.

At the end of the meeting, all players available will be asked to go down to the field and help remove the field blanket.

If the weather is nice, we will practice each day outside from 3PM-5:30/6PM.  On Monday, we will likely have 2 practice sessions, with the first from 6AM-8AM in the morning and the second in the afternoon outside, likely beginning at 2PM (this is weather dependent-if rain/snow is coming in later in the day, we may have to move practice times up). 

Everything is contingent on weather and that is very unpredictable this time of year.  Additionally, we will need to share indoor time with boys and girls basketball as long as both continue to play, boys and girls lacrosse, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls tennis, and softball.  That will change every day as some teams may be able to go outside while others may not.  I won’t have access to that information until that same day. 

The bottom line is that this will be a stressful week and we will do our best to get word out on practice schedules. Unfortunately, there will be days when we will have very little advanced notice on schedule changes so we ask parents and players to be flexible with regard to the schedule. Players need to be ready to go indoors and outdoors each and every day.
