SACKVILLE-FALLRIVER WOLVES LACROSSE ASSOCIATION
NEWSLETTER-NOVEMBER 2007
From the President…
Although the final horn sounded back in July, lacrosse continues to be played in the board room of the Wolves Lacrosse Association. Plans are already being discussed for the 2008 season and early indications has exciting things happening next year. Our website newsletter will allow all our members to keep up to date on lacrosse news and information …so keep watching.
Firstly, on behalf of the Wolves Lacrosse membership, we would like to express our gratitude to all the team coaches for another fantastic season. Without your commitment and contribution we would not be able to provide a strong and successful program to our young athletes. A standing ovation for all your efforts.
The 2007 season was truly a remarkable year for our association and for lacrosse in our province. The success of the ILF World Indoor Lacrosse Championships has generated tremendous interest in the sport. The Wolves executive were heavily involved in this legacy event as we were proud to host the Iroquois National team. The team held an open practice, mini clinic and autograph session at the Sackville Arena during their day off in the tournament. Special thanks to Tony Thomas and Pam Desrochers for organizing this event. Also the Wolves were double fortunate in that two of Team Canada’s star players Colin Doyle and Chris Driscoll took some time to help run a peewee club practice. Thanks to Amy Bragg for organizing this special time for her team.
The Wolves sent a Peewee Select and Bantam Select team to Saint John NB to participate in the Rip Tide Lacrosse Tournament. A good time by all and congratulations to our Bantam team on winning the Bantam division banner now on display at our arena. We hope to continue sending teams to this exciting event. A great start to the year which transpired to a great finish. Highlights from the 2007 season include: Novice Tier 2 Gold, Peewee Club Tier1 Silver, Bantam Select Gold, and Midget Club Tier 2 Gold. Congratulations to everyone involved.
The Wolves Lacrosse Association is a leader in promoting the sport of lacrosse and provides a quality program for all ages and emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship and passion for the game. Winning success is not only measured in championship trophies but whether our players embrace the game and enjoyed their year.
Yours in lacrosse
Steve Brown
