11-12 Year Old Major Division Player Pitches No Hitter!

Big News - Major Division.

May 11 2009

Jesse Parsons of the WOLL Major League Division Yankees pitches a no hitter.   Parson threw only 64 pitches and had 7 strikeouts in his 6 inning complete game against the Orioles.  He faced only 20 batters in the 5-0 victory with only 2 batters reaching base.  One was a walk and another Oriole reached base on an error.  As always defense was key in the win. Great plays included Nick Karcz, who made a play up the middle behind second base robbing Oriole Trenton Summers of a single, and Zachary Passman who made a fine catch of a Nick Nardyz hit in the right center outfield gap.
Offensively, Parson added to the win by hitting a double and scoring 2 runs. Nick Karcz also doubled and scored.  Sam Snead provided 2 hits and 2 RBIs and scored a run.  Greg Smutek crossed the plate to round out the scoring.

A fine pitching effort was provided by Orioles Nick Nardyz and Trenton Summers as they scattered 7 hits in the losing effort.  "The Oriole pitchers did a fine job but the day belonged to Jesse Parsons and the Yankees," stated league President John Paris.   "Our league is always striving to improve and our league slogan Practice, Play, Perform was evidenced by the play of both teams," Paris said.  Yankee Manager Gary Hayes added. "It is terrific to have Nick Karcz and Jesse Parson playing baseball.  Last year, both players did not participate in baseball.  During the off season, a program was developed to recapture families back to the league.  When contacted and told of League plans to put "FUN" back into fundamentals through our baseball academies and effort to put all players first, both the Parson and Karcz families came back to the league.  Teamwork extends beyond the white lines as families help out with concessions, scoring, pitch count and field maintenace.  If ALL families don't contribute at some level, the kids ultimately lose a little something.  We are striving to create a community and family based league.

Although we are a community program it doesn't mean we aren't competitive.  This game is a precursor of the excitement we are developing on a local level.  Mandatory playing time is not a detriment to the game as other programs may believe.  In the end, "FUNdamentals and teaching is what  it is all about."

New rules for bats that can be used in little league

It has been brought to the attention of Little League officials that there are a few bats for sale in stores or that may have already been purchased that carry the Little League approval, but do not have the required bat performance standard markings.  The Little League Rulebook states that beginning January 1, 2009, all non-wood bats used for play in Little League Baseball (majors and below) shall be printed with a bat performance factor (BPF) of 1.15 or less.  While the bats we have identified pass the BPF standard and other standards of proportion and measurement, they do not have the proper label.  These bats are in the marketplace for a variety of circumstances.  After review by Little League officials, it has been determined that these bats may remain in the marketplace and shall be allowed for play during the 2009 season only, with the understanding that these bats shall not be allowed for play after December 31, 2009, even though some improperly labeled bats may still remain in the marketplace, or retained by leagues and players after the 2010 deadline.  Also, check the model you are purchasing.  If these bats, like the Vanquish, are replaced with corrected labeling, and have the BPF 1.15 label, they will be allowed after 2009.

Specifically, the bats in question are as follow:

Adidas Vanquish Blue design   (There is a newer model of this bat, also named the Vanquish and it has copper and black markings.  It contains the proper labeling and therefore is not subject to the one-year rule).

DeMarini     Black Coyote
                   Rogue
                   Distance
                   Rumble
                   Tengu

Easton         LZ-810

Louisville Slugger    YB31
