Westminster Optimist Little League: Spring 2010 Divisions
An introduction to the game of baseball. A maximum of 4 coaches will be on the field to instruct the 9 players in the game. Every batter will bat in each inning. No score will be kept. Emphasis will be on having FUN and TEAMWORK. Each year teams are reassembled.
Instructional League
Players will be closer to a real game. Coaches will pitch or utulize a pitching machine. Players will be placed on a team to ensure a FUN and competitive experience. Two pitchers and a catcher will placed on a team to insure parity. It is the hope by end of the season teams will have progressed and be pitching to each other. Pitch count determined by Little League Baseball will be enforced for the safety of players. Each year teams are reassembled. A time limit and run rules are being formulated.
Minor League
Players will have advanced enough to play and field all 9 position. Umpires will call games. Each team will be assigned 2 pitchers and a catcher to ensure fair competition. Pitch count rules determined by Little League Baseball will be enforced for the safety of players.
Major League
All players are drafted annually until age requirement is surpassed. The play is competitive and will have umpires to call the game. The league champion will advance to the "Tournament of Champions" for District 7. Location to be determined. The major division will field an All-Star team(s). Pitch counted determined by Little League Baseball will be enforced for the safety of players. Run rules are being formulated.
