0 12 0 8 - 20 Wilby
Some information from the Waterbury Republican American (support them!)
— Whether coming out of the backfield or lined up in the slot, Wolcott High’s Gregg Jackson is a major threat each time he touches the ball. Wilby found that out the hard way on Saturday.
Jackson rushed for two touchdowns and scored another on a reception as Wolcott spoiled Wilby’s home opener with a 38-20 triumph at O’Brien Field.
Jackson finished with 132 total yards, 108 of them coming on six catches. He also converted a two-point conversion on the ground following his second touchdown of the second quarter.
“I love getting the ball,” said Jackson, who had touchdown runs of 4 and 2 yards to go with a 9-yard scoring catch. “The most important thing, though, is being a team player. I just do what I can to help the team win.”
Jackson scored two touchdowns in last week’s 46-19 win over Killingly.
“Jackson is a great leader, and this team feeds off his energy,” added Wolcott coach Patrick Russo. “He has the ability to put a team on his shoulders, and he did that today.”
