A host of players from the Wolcott Football team along with some of their friends decided it would be a great idea to get up early on Saturday morning (May 2nd) at the Woodtick Recreation Area and help the Special Olympics team set-up the field events, tents and stations.

"We were fitting a few of the players for helmets and I mentioned that they could help out if they were available." said Coach Russo.  "Word spread around the team and I am thrilled that so many guys showed up. This is a reflection of what our Coaching Staff, their families and the Wolcott Community instills in our kids.  These kids know they get a lot of support from the community and just wanted to give some back.   It's great that these gentleman came out to support people with different athletic abilities than their own."

The players helped set up the various competition stations, the announcement equipment and numerous refreshment tables.  They also filled balloons with helium for participants and their families.  All of this from a 7:00 AM start on Saturday morning.

"This is a great community and we are happy to do anything we can to help anyone out.  Our program is not just football and weightlifting...it's about building character in these young men.  I want to give a special 'thank you' to Coach Bove for his help and support as well."
