Wolcott made headlines with the largest font possible on the sports section after their Thanksgiving game with Holy Cross.  It is apparent that the paper considered the Cross second half victory a significant achievement for the Crusader program in light of the significant progress made by the Wolcott program in 2007.  Cheshire defeated a previously undeafeated Southington team (LL) and only got a small corner spot in the paper.  Congratulations to the Eagles!  You are turning heads! 

In previous articles - a longtime local newspaper editorial sportwriter refers to the Wolcott Football Players as 'clumsy kids who can't be taught how to throw a block without tripping over their own feet' and kids 'who can't chew gum and walk'.  Wolcott parents are referred to as 'meddling backbiters' who take more interest in the huddle than the classroom.  This same writer attemped to discourage and disparage the Kennedy Football team after they won the the NVL Copper Title in 2008.  Unfortunately for all of us, there are grown adults out there who do not understand the objectives of the athletic programs of our schools - and choose to act as 'know-it-alls' who profess to have the 'proper perspective' on high school sports.  While copyright laws prevent the commercial distribution of this material, you can find out more by contacting wolcotthsfootball@yahoo.com .
