The Winona WinStars are a community based traveling fastpitch softball organization. The WinStars field teams in the 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, & 18U age groups. We also offer a Non-Traveling program for girls aged 5-10. The WinStars are a Non-profit volunteer organization. The goal of play is to help girls to develop Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Commitment, and Softball skills while having fun.
Registration for the traveling WinStars is closed for the 2013 season. If you missed registering your daughter, please contact Terrie Dieterman (see Board page for contact information) as soon as possible. Parent meeting will be: Monday February 25, 2013 at 7:00 PM Additional registration for the WeeStars & Sparklers 2013 season only will be: Wednesday April 10, 2013 from 6:30-8:00 PM Saturday May 18, 2013 from 9:00-11:00 AM All registrations and the parent meeting will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church (corner of Main & Broadway). Please use the back parking lot (across from Public Library entrance) and follow posted signs. The handout link for the 2013 Registration Flyer is below and contains additional details. Please download, print, and complete the 2013 Registration Flyer and bring the completed form to registration. Reminder: All WinStar players need to provide an updated photo. All new and first time WinStar players need to bring a COPY of your daughter's birth certificate. Important Note Regarding Uniform Orders: Only new or 1st year WinStar players will be given a free jersey. All returning players will be required to purchase any additional uniforms that are needed.

The Chicken Que Fundraiser will be Saturday, April 6, 2013, at EBs Corner on West 5th Street. The 2013 WinStars Stars & Strikes Tournament will be June 8-June 9. There will be NO sign up forms for the two fundraisers this year. The dates for the fundraisers are posted above, so you now know well in advance to keep these dates open on your calendar. Each age groups/team will be assigned to a time slot well in advance for you to make appropriate arrangements. Assigned times will be posted when they become available, and most likely, your age group or team will be working both events.
Saturday, January 5
The Winona Winstars would like to announce that Mitch Grossell (pitching coach and assistant varsity softball coach at Winona Senior High School), and Nikki Fennern (former head softball coach at St. Mary’s University and current St. Mary’s University athletic director) have agreed to be pitching coordinators and instructors for the Winona Winstar softball program in 2013. Mitch will be working with the younger pitchers, while Nikki will work with the older pitchers in the program.
We will be offering several indoor sessions this winter as well as other opportunities throughout the year. The first four indoor sessions will be offered in the evenings on Thursdays, January 17 and 24, as well as Tuesdays, February 12 and 26. We will offer up to 3 sessions on each date to be assigned based on the pitcher’s experience level. You will need to pre-register for these sessions so we can offer an appropriate coach/athlete ratio.
Each pitcher will need to wear gym shoes and have someone who is capable of being their catcher for the session.
If your daughter is interested in attending, please preregister by contacting Scott Halverson one week prior to the session at scottamy@hbci.com or call 453-9470. He will get back to you with your daughter’s session times.

The Winona WinStars will be offering softball open gym/batting cages at the Winona Middle School and Cotter gyms this winter. Athletes will need gym shoes to participate and use the gym facilities.
Open gym times for the Winona Middle School are posted on the WinStars website calendar (see link on the left side of this screen). Open gym times for Cotter will be Mondays and Wednesdays (6:00-7:15 PM 12's and under; 7:15-8:30 PM 14's and older) with a start date yet to be determined.
