Anderson resigns as head coach and general manager of the Roughriders
Paul Anderson has resigned as the Roughriders head coach and general manager. " It is with great sadness that I will not be in charge of the Roughriders in 2008. Because of circumstances that happen in the 2007 season it made it extremely difficult for me to retained the duties involved in this position. I have nothing but fond memories of starting this organization in 2003 and coaching this team. I will not forget some of the games especially the OT game against the Maulers in 2006 and the playoff game against the Lumberjacks in 2005. Plus, my first win as a head coach in 2005 against the Vikings and the Thunderbird game in our first season in 2003. I would like to thank Bob Formanek,James Larson,Paul Van Beek, Carl Rosenberg for all of their hard work in making this team a success. It has been a great five year ride no pun intented. This team will continue with the leadership of Dustin Priorer 715 -225-4880 after coming to an agreement to take over the team in 2008. I will miss all the players and the complete staff at Winona State. It has been ONE HELL OF A RIDE!" Said Paul Anderson

Roughriders Players Nominated For the All-American Game
The following players have been nominated by the team to play in the 2007 All-American game. Juilus Shelton,Aaron Woelful,Micheal Bolton,Marvin Hooker,Nate Fritsch,Nate Weess,Clarlos Clayburn, David Dechant,Cory Pronschinske,Ryan Block, Travis Mangene,John Bushman, Tony Ford,Tom Stark, Tom Harrison, Jed Neal, Chad Hasz, Drew Wilwert and Tom Bieze. Roughriders Team Picture Are Done

In other news the Roughriders have been contacted by the MFL to possibily play in the Metro-Dome before tha All-American Bowl this year. Rough Riders Win Their Final Regular Season Game
The Winona/La Crosse Rough Riders wrapped up their regular season with a 34-18 win over the Manson Eagles on Saturday night. Aaron Woelfel caught three touchdowns passes in the win while quarterback David Dechant threw four touchdown passes total. The Rough Riders’ other touchdown came on a 44 yard interception return by Ryan Block. The Rough Riders are now 4-6 on the season.

Rough Riders Fall to Spartans
The Winona-La Crosse Rough Riders lost to the a good Des Moines Spartans team Saturday night 28-6. Tom Stark scored the only touchdown for the Rough Riders on a 75 yard run. John Buschman was the Rough Riders leading tackler in the game. The Rough Riders fall to 3-5 and they will play at the Milwaukee Marauders on Saturday.

Rough Riders Stop Losing Streak
The Winona-La Crosse Rough Riders stopped a two-game losing streak on Saturday night as they defeated the Manson Eagles 21-0 at Maxwell Field at Alltel Stadium. Tom Stark ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns in the win while Carlos Clayburn caught a touchdown pass from Jed Neal. The Rough Riders improve to 3-3 on the season. The Rough Riders are on the road this week as they travel to the Cedar Valley Vikings.

Rough Riders' Game Against Maulers Called At Halftime
The Winona-La Crosse Rough Riders didn't get a chance to finish their game against the Minnesota Maulers this past weekend as the game was called at halftime. The Maulers were leading 7-0 at halftime when the officials and coaches decided to call the game because of heavy rain and lightning.
The game will not be made up unless it is needed to determine playoff seedings.

Midwest Pioneers Game and League Schedule Update
The League has re-scheduled the Roughriders schedule due to the addition of a new team in the league. Here are the changes in respect to the Roughriders schedule for the remainder of he 2007 seasson. The game against the Midwest Pioneers on August 11th will not take place and the Roughiders will be going to the Cedar Valley Vikings on Sept 1st in the place of that game. The Roughriders will be having a practice on Saturday on August 11th from 9am to Noon in Onalaska( Wells st and Sand Lake Rd). For any questions please call coach Anderson @ 608-582-4528

Rough Riders Move to 2-0
The Winona-La Crosse Rough Riders won their second game of the season on Saturday night as they defeated the Cedar Valley Vikings 13-6. In the Mid-America Football League opener for the Rough Riders, they scored twice in the second quarter on two Jed Neal touchdown passes. Neal hit Aaron Woelfel for a 17 yard TD and then hit Julius Shelton for a 26 yard score. Cedar Valley scored their touchdown in the third quarter.
The Rough Riders are 2-0 on the season and they take to the road next week as they travel to the Central Minnesota Thunderbirds.

Roughriders Linebacker honored as semi-pro defensive player of the week
The Roughriders middle linebacker Billy Alexander received the semi-pro defensive player of the week for his performance against the Milwaukee Marauders on June 16th. Alexander had 10 assisted tackles, 5 solo tackles with 4 of them for a total loss of -15 yards and 1 sack. Please check out minor league football.com for the write up about Billy's performance." Billy Alexander was on fire against Milwaukee and he help set the defensive tempo against the Marauders. Billy is a football player pure and simple and he brings everything he got on every play!" Roughriders Win First Game of the 2007 Season
The Winona/Lacrosse Roughriders defeated the Milwaukee Marauders on saturday June 16th 17-6. The Rough Riders opened up the scoring in the first quarter on a 20 yard touchdown pass from Jed Neal to Carlos Clayburn. Neal would catch a touchdown pass in the third quarter, a 14 yard pass from Chris Landom. Nathan Weess rounded out the Rough Riders' scoring by kicking a 26 yard field goal. The Rough Riders are now off until July 7th when they host the Cedar Valley Vikings. Stats about the game will be posted to this web site early in the week of June 18th.
