Delightfully Drenched--WHS defeats Exeter 2 - 1!

WELCOME

FIELD HOCKEY 2008

Warriors on a roll--5 in a row.  After winning both games last week against Manchester West and Nashua North, the Warriors stand at 5-4-2.  With only 3 games remaining in the regular season, every game counts.  Come and cheer on the Warriors on Senior Day this Friday, Oct. 10, when WHS Field Hockey takes on the Crimson Tide of Concord at 4:00.

Banquet information is now available.  Our banquet will be on Monday, Nov. 10, at the Ashworth Hotel.  Reservation are required.  There is not cost for our athletes but everyone must return the form so we have an accurate count for the evening.  You can download the form from our handouts page.  Please return it to Jan Hunt or Nancy Grant by Sat., Oct. 18.  You can contact either of them or one of the coaches if you have any questions about the banquet.

The Warriors recorded their 3rd win of the week against Exeter on Friday, 9/26.  A jubilant Varsity team celebrated their victory as the rain continued to pour down on them.  Amy Croteau scored both goals for the Warriors, the first one coming with 10 minutes left in the first half.  Her winning goal occurred with 12 minutes to play in the game and put the Warriors on top 2 - 0.  Exeter responded 2 minutes later to put the Blue Hawks on the board but that would be all they could muster.  A determined Warrior team would not allow Exeter another opportunity to score.  Also playing well for WHS was Maegan Grew, who left Exeter marveling at her skill.  Elyse Dion, Emma Marty and Stephanie Parisi came up strong for the Warriors putting the extra reach in their stick when the team needed it.  It was a great team effort by everyone throughout the week to give the Warriors 3 consecutive victories.  The Warriors defeated Timberlane 1 - 0 on Wed., Sept. 24 at home.  Julia Merrow scored for WHS off an assist from Sarah Carter.

Great work this week Warriors--Keep it going strong.

Come out to support your favorite field hockey team this week.  The JV team will make up their Exeter game on Monday at Exeter at 3:15.  The Varsity team only will play at home on Wed., Oct. 1, against Manchester West and on Thurs., Oct. 2, Varsity and JV will play at home against Nashua North.  Both home games begin at 4:00PM.

We're climbing out of the cellar!

There were Smiles all around the Field Hockey bus as the Varsity team gained their first win of the season over Bishop Guertin 2 - 0 on Monday evening, Sept. 22.  Julia Merrow scored both goals for the Warriors on assists from Emma Marty and Noelle Brouillard.   The JV team posted their third win of the season beating BG 8 - 0.  Em Zirkle scored 5 goals for the Warriors and Holly McCay had a hat trick for the evening.  Way to go Warriors!!

The Manchester West game will be a Varsity only game.

The Nashua North game has been changed once again.  The new date for this game is Thursday, Oct. 2, at home.  This is due to the observance of the Jewish Holiday by Nashua North players.

Thank you to all of our parents who came to our first Friends of Warrior Field Hockey.  Snack packs, team dinner dates and other activities are in the planning stages.  Parent contacts for each team have been established.  The Varsity team contacts are Cindy Glynn and Nancy Marty.  The JV team contacts are Sue MacLauglin and Cindy Smith.  For our Freshman team Michelle Croteau will be the contact.  Look for them on the sidelines if you are interested in helping out or finding out what's going on with WHS Field Hockey.  Our next Friends of Warrior Field Hockey meeting will be on Thurs., Sept. 18 at 6:30 in Rm. G201.  Hope to see you there.

Check the calendar for some recent changes.
