Finally Batch Qualifying!
29 July 08
Sr. Honda (14 cars) – Well, we finally have more than 10 cars so the drivers will be batch qualifying tonight. We were hoping for Kaitlyn to do well, but it wouldn’t happen. She qualifies 14th with a time of 6.786.
B-Main – Kaitlyn is starting 9th out of 9 cars for 25 laps or 12 minutes. The top 5 cars will transfer to the A-Main. This race would end up going green all the way. She gets 8th place at the green flag start. She makes a pass for 7th. She gets lapped by the leader with about 10 laps to go. She passes for 6th with 4 laps left but loses it before the checkered flag flies. She finishes the race in 7th so she won’t transfer to the A-Main, but she did a nice job! Unfortunately, this finish won’t count. The Sr. Honda A-Main race doesn’t get to hit the track because we hit our curfew time of 11PM so the whole class reverts back to qualifying for their points. Kaitlyn will be awarded 14th place points for tonight. What a bummer!

A Bad Night
Her 1st Sr. Honda DNF
15 July 08
Sr. Honda (9 cars) – We still don’t have a full field to batch qualify. The drivers will line up according to the computer pill draw.
A-Main – Kaitlyn’s bad luck in starting positions continues. Tonight she will start in 8th out of 9 cars for 30 laps or 15 minutes. They get the 1 to go signal, and she does what we told her to do – fall back and tuck behind the #9 car and stay low. Well, cars start to wreck so the flagman doesn’t throw the green. They line back up double file. They take the green this time, but cars start wrecking again in front of her, and she hits them. Her car is broken. She can’t finish the race so she will finish in 9th place with a DNF. Sorry sissy!!

Trying Hard
Controversial Finish – 7th or 5th??
8 July 08
Sr. Honda (9 cars) – Still not enough cars to batch qualify so Kaitlyn is hoping for a good number tonight.
A-Main – Kaitlyn is starting this race on the outside pole position. This is almost as hard as starting in the 4 hole. There are 9 cars for 30 laps or 15 minutes. She gets hung on the outside and falls back to about 7th at the green. With 23 to go, the first caution flag flies. Kaitlyn lines up 7th. She makes some nice passes. The race goes green the rest of the way. Nicholas just catches her with 2 laps left. He stays on her back bumper to take the win so once again she is happy that she didn’t get put a lap down! The tower announces her as finishing in 7th, but after asking daddy, we are pretty sure she finished ahead of a couple other drivers so mom goes to the tower to ask them to verify the finish and look at the score sheets. They find one car that they forgot to circle as a lap down so they move Kaitlyn up to 6th, but we are pretty sure she is in 5th. On the video, it clearly shows that Kaitlyn was going under a car when the car behind her hits her and shoots her past the outside car. The 2 cars behind her get together and hit the speed bumps in turns 3 and 4 allowing her to get a straightaway lead on them. We were eventually given copies of the score sheets at our next race and found where the other car was put a lap down by Nicholas, the leader, but since the tower didn’t have that car’s number circled, they refused to give Kaitlyn her proper 5th place finish and points. Even the drivers agreed that Nicholas lapped them. The kids always know where they finish! Kaitlyn was the last car on the lead lap. Kaitlyn finishes 5th for the night, unofficially. Nice racing sissy!!

Still Racing Hard
Really low car count tonight!
17 June 08
Sr. Honda (6 cars) – Wow, where did everyone go? Again, since there are less than 10 cars the drivers will line up according to their pill draw. Big brother has been offered the use of Jared Jones’ cars tonight before Wilt Racing heads to CT for the Eastern Grands.
A-Main – Kaitlyn has gotten the “Wilt luck” tonight. She has drawn the dreaded 4 hole. Same criteria as last week – 30 laps or 20 minutes. Two cars wreck in warm-up so Kaitlyn gets to line up in 3rd. She keeps 3rd place as they go green. She makes a pass and takes 2nd with about 25 laps to go. She runs there till Nicholas passes her a few laps later then falls another position when she is passed again. This race goes caution free, and by the end Kaitlyn is somewhat struggling to keep up her speed. With less than 3 laps to go, she gets passed again. She will finish tonight in 5th! Good job!

Here We Go!!!
1st Sr. Honda Race!
10 June 08
Sr. Honda (9 cars) – Here we go! The day we’ve been waiting for. It’s little sister vs big brother! Kaitlyn has finally gotten an engine for her car so she is very excited to be running the NCQMA Summer Series in her new class. There is no batch qualifying tonight because there are less than 10 cars so they will line up according to their pill draw.
A-Main – Kaitlyn is starting in 7th out of 9 cars for 30 laps or 20 minutes. She gets tapped by the car behind her on the backstretch as the field gets the 1 to go signal and spins out. She lines back up, and they go green! She gets 5th place and stays there till 2 cars pass her causing her to fall to 7th with about 20 laps left. Then 2 cars wreck in front of her bringing out the first caution. She spins out to avoid the wreck and lines up in 7th with 16 to go. The race goes green the rest of the way. She falls back a spot, but she is doing well at keeping up the pace with the other drivers. She makes some nice passes on slower cars. Brother wins the race, but she is more thrilled with the fact that he never caught her and lapped her!! She finishes her 1st Sr. Honda race in 7th!! Nice going sissy!
