The Willis Girls Softball Association All-Star team is headed to the ASA/USA Girls’ B 10-Under Fast Pitch Southern National Championships. The team will compete against opponents from across Texas and Oklahoma at the tournament beginning July 28 at the Winters Softball Complex in Garland. The Wildkats, who are coached by Billy McConnell and Dixie Simon, consist of 10 girls from the regular WGSA spring league. These girls were considered the top picks of their league teams respectively and were asked to play for the Willis Wildkats All-star team.“We’ve had a very successful season,” McConell said. “Everyone is just doing fantastic. It’s just been one of those years where everything comes together and we have a great group of girls.”The Wildkats placed in the District 14 tournament held in Willis earlier in the summer, and the regional tournament held in Angleton this past weekend, qualifying them to play at nationals in Garland. To help the Wildkats get to the national tournament and make a tax-deductible contribution to the WGSA/Willis Wildkats All-stars 10U team, contact Kimber Brown at (936-827-2021) or contact at First Bank of Conroe.
