CHIAVETTA CHICKEN DINNER FUND RAISER
The Chiavetta BBQ Chicken Dinner Fund Raiser will be held onThursday Nov.20 from 3:15 PM-6:30 PM. More details to follow as they become finalized. Please remember help will be needed as this is our major fund raiser for the year. This sale benefits both the varsity and JV programs. UPDATE- All players will receive and must sell 15 tickets each. The tickets cost $8 each. There will also be a baked goods in the commons that day.

VARSITY TRYOUT DATES ANNOUNCED
Varsity Head Coach Mike Torrillo has announced the varsity tryout dates. They are Monday Nov. 3 from 3:30-4:40 PM, Wednesday Nov. 5 at 3:330 -4;50 PM, and Tuesday Nov.11 at 3:30 -4:40 PM. The game schedule will be added this week.

JV SCRIMMAGE GAME CANCELLED/ JV PRACTICE ADDED
The JV scrimmage game against Kenmore West JV scheduled for Monday Nov. 10 has been cancelled by Kenmore West. No make up date scheduled yet.
UPDATE: Head Coach Annese has added a JV practice on Tuesday Nov. 11 at 6:30 AM at APC-feature rink. No school that day.

Williamsville East JV has accepted an invitation to scrimmage Kenmore East JV. The game will be at Lincoln Rink on Parker Ave in Tonawanda on Thursday Nov. 13 at 8 :15 PM

East JV Defeats Kenmore East JV 3-1
The JV scored 2 goals in the first period and a short handed late in the final period to defeat Kenmore East JV 3-1 at Lincoln. The Ken East goal was scored late on the powerplay in the third period. Will East played all 3 goalies Brandon Hess, Ricky Bress and Robert Vermilye a period each as they outshot Ken East 24-19.

EAST HOCKEY PARENTS HOLIDAY PARTY
The annual holiday party for the East Hockey parents has been set for Sunday evening December 28 at the East Amherst Fire Station #1 at 9100 Transit Rd corner of Muegel Rd. The time will be 5:30 PM and parking is available across the street in the Muegel Road lot by the red barn. More details will be posted closer to this event.

JV WINS OPENER 6-1
Mike Sarcinelli and Matt Territo each scored 2 goals to pace the JV in their season opening win over Niagara Wheatfield 6-1. One of Territo's goal came shorthanded late in the 2nd period to give East a 3-1 lead after 2 periods. Cole Weppner and Adam Pressman added single goals each, while Sarcinelli had a pair of assists as well. Robert Vermilye was sharp in goal the few times he had to be stopping 15 of 16 shots to earn the win. Click on the game score to see the entire scoring summary.

EAST JV WINS 2ND 8-0
The JV team won their 2nd straight game 8-0 over Sweet Home. Mike Sarcinelli scored the 3 goal hat trick and added 2 assists. 2 of the goals were shorthanded the team's 2nd & 3rd SHG in 2 games. Matt Territo scored twice while Jacob Feldman,Ryan Shaw, and Brandon Ketteman each scored one goal. Robert Vermilye and Ricky Bress shared the shutout in goal with Vermile playing the first 2 periods and stopping all 11 shots he faced. Bress stopped 3 in the final period. Prior to the game, Luke Sokolowski was named captain for the team and Mike Sarcinelli was named one of the assistants. The players and coaches voted on the picks. 2 more assistants will be named by the coaching staff in the next couple weeks.

JV RALLIES TO TIE LANCASTER
East JV rallied from two 3 goal deficits to tie Lancaster 4-4. Lancaster had 3-0 early in the 2nd period and a 4-1 lead with 2:35 left in the 2nd period when Mike Sarcinelli (Matt Territo-Adam Pressman) scored just 40 seconds later to start the comeback. Sarcinelli (Ryan Shaw-Territo) scored his hat trick goal on the power play early in the 3rd to close to 4-3. Adam Pressman Nick Kowalski-Territo) got the tying goal also on the powerplay with 4:33 left to earn the tie. Territo assisted on all 4 goals. Robert Vermilye stopped 30 of 34 shots ,several off rebounds, to keep his team in the game. Vermilye was extra sharp in the first period as Lancaster fired 14 shots. East finished with 31 shots on goal ,25 in the final 2 periods. Check out the league website at www.nfjv.net for the latest standings.

VARSITY WINS SEASON OPENER
Paul Ross scored the 3 goal hat trick to lead East varsity to a 5-0 win over Nichols. Joey Cantafio added 2 goals and Jake Lewis got the shutout in goal.

Varsity Defeated by Hamburg
Hamburg defeated East varsity 3-1. Hamburg opened the scoring late in the 1st period on a deflected goal .After a scoreless second period, Hamburg scored 20 seconds into the final period on the powerplay to up their lead to 2-0. James Faran scored off an assist by Paul Ross to pull East to within goal with just over 4 minutes left. However, a little over a minute later Hamburg scored to clinch their win. East outshot Hamburg 28-18, and outplayed them in the 2nd period but could not find the back of the net amongst their 12 shots. The loss drops East to 1-1.

JV OVER KENMORE WEST
East JV soundly defeated Kenmore West 7-2 last night. Jordan Leising scored the 3 goal hart trick to pace East. Mike Sarcinelli scored twice, including his 3rd shorthanded goal of the year, and Ryan Shaw added a goal and 3 assists. Robert Vermilye was again steady in goal, and kept the score at 1-1 early in the first period making 3 saves on point blank rebound shots. George Huyler, although not getting on the score sheet, had a strong defensive game. East outshot KW 34-22, and 14-4 in the final period when they scored three to put the game away. East has now successfully killed all 12 shorthanded situations this year in league games.

JV ADDS 2 NON LEAGUE GAMES
East JV added 2 more non league games to the schedule. They are Sat. Dec. 27 at 8:40 PM at APC against N. Tonawanda JV. This will replace the practice scheduled at the same time. The 2nd game will be on Wed. Jan. 21 at 4:30 PM at Hockey Outlet against N. Tonawanda JV.

EAST VARSITY DROPS PAIR IN SOUTH TOURN
Williamsville North defeated East 5-1 last night. JV player matt Territo has been added to the varsity roster. Matt had 4 goals and 5 assists in 4 games for the JV, including a short handed goal.
Niagara Wheatfield defeated East 4-2 as East lost both games in the Williamsville South Tournament. Billy Gaffney (Simon Fedak) and Mike DeStefano scored the East goals.

JV OVER TIMON 7-3
Luke Sokolowski first goal of the year proved to be the game winner as East JV remained undefeated with a 7-3 win over Timon. East had 7 different goal scorers in this game-in addition to Sokolowski, Jamie Floss, Mike Sarcinelli, Jordan Leising,adam Pressman, Ryan Shaw, and Marc Bezbatchenko hit the back of the net. Pressman's goal was shorthanded the 6th shorthanded goal of the season for East.Sarcineeli,Shaw, and Derek Aichinger added 2 assists each. Robert Vermilye stopped 12 of 15 shots in goal.

JV CRUISES TO 15-2 WIN
East JV cruised to a 15-2 win over Fairview,PA JV. Goals by Justin Goodman and Mike Sarcinelli gave East a 2-1 lead after a period. The goal against never entered the net however, the replay camera was not working to confirm that fact. The floodgates opened in the 2nd period as East got goals from Derek Aichinger,Luke Sokolowski,Jacob Feldman, Sarcinelli, Brandon Ketteman,Adam Pressman,and Jordan Leising to take a 9-1 lead. In the 3rd period goals came from, Brandon Vujcec,Cal Eichhorn,Jordan Rusek,George Huyler, Pressman, and Cole Weppner. Both sarcinelli and Ryan Shaw added 5 assists in the game. Ricky Bress, the victim of the phatom goal worked the first half of the game and Brandon Hess the 2nd half. Each stopped 6 of 7 shots as East outshot Fairview 45-14. VARSITY UPDATES
On Saturday, in the first round of the Batavia Christmas Tournament, Batavia edged East 2-1 in double OT. Peter Elliott scored the East goal in the first period which held gave East a 1-0 until midway through the 2nd period. Batavia scored at 2:09 of the 2nd OT to win.
Simon Fedak scored a goal and assist to lead the varisty to a 3-1 win over Amherst on Thursady Dec. 18.
Last Sunday, Timon edged East 7-6 on a powerplay goal with just 28 seconds left to play. In the game, East scored three powerplay goals - Ted Tetrault, Don Frauenhofer, and Billy Gaffney. James Faran also added a shorthanded tally. The other two gaols were scored by Matt notaro and Mike DeStefano.
In last week's Williamsille South Tourney,defenseman Max Fogel was named to the all tourney team.

JV REMAINS UNDEFEATED
Brendan Vujcec scored a powerplay goal early in the 2nd period which proved to be the winner, as the East JV won over Kenmore East JV 7-2. East scored 2 shorthanded goals by Cole Weppner and Mike Sarcinelli early in the 3rd period , both during the same 5 minute penalty kill, to clinch the win. Also scoring for East were Ryan Shaw with 2 goals,Jordan Leising, and Nick Kowalski. East outshot Ken East 34-20 and went 2-6 on the powerplay and killed 4 of 5 penalties including a 5 minute major. Robert Vermilye go the win in goal stopping 14 of 16 while Ricky Bress came on in the 3rd period and stopped all 4 shots he faced.

Varsity Wins 4-1
East varsity defeated St.Francis 4-1 behind 2 goals from Joey Cantafio. Cullen Hensley got the win in goal.

JV LOSES 6-1 AND WINS 6-1
East JV suffered their first loss of the season in a non-league game by a 6-1 score to North Tonawanda JV. Derek Aichinger scored the lone goal. Brandon Hess and Ricky Bress shard the goaltending duties. East never led in this game trailing 2-0 after 2 although they closed the gap to 2-1 midway thru the 3rd period. NT then scored 4 goals in just under 4 minutes.
The following day, East came out 6-1 winners over Clarence. The goal scorers were Jordan Leising, Ryan Shaw (SHG) , Matt Petrie (his 1st JV goal), Nick Kowalski, adam Pressman, and Jacob Feldman. Jamie Floss had 2 assists. Robert Vermilye got the win in goal with help from Brandon Hess in the 3rd period.

JV & VARSITY EVENT
Wednesday 1/7: Williamsville East JV and Varsity teams will be heading to Riverside Rink in Buffalo to skate with Sabah. There will be a bus that will be leaving from the High School at 3:45pm. Players are to wear their Black jerseys, helmets, gloves and sticks.

JV REMAINS UNDEFEATED
East JV won twice this past week end, by 4-0 over Williamsville South and 8-1 over Amherst. In the South game, Mike Sarcinelli scored twice and Jacob Feldman and Luke Sokolowski added singles. Jordan Leising had 2 assists. Robert Vermilye played the first period and Ricky Bress the final 2 periods in goal to share the shutout. East outshot South 51-10. The next day, East was over Amherst 8-1 and outshot them 36-14. Brandon Hess played the first 2 periods and Ricky Bress the final period in goal. Mike Sarcinelli again led the offense scoring 2 goals and assisting on 2 others. Jordan Leising,Luke Sokolowski,Marc Bezbatchenko, Jamie Floss,Derek Aichinger, and Brandon Vujcec added single tallies. Cole Weppner had 4 assists as East improved to 8-0-1 in league play.
NOTE: Before the week end games, JV Adam Pressman was called up to varsity by Coach Torrillo.

VARSITY SHUTOUTS NICHOLS JV DEFEATS WILL NORTH
Jake Lewis shutout goaltending led East varsity to a 6-0 win over Nichols. Matt Terrrito scored twice in the game,his first 2 goals in Federation games. Last Thursday, Williamsville South shutout East 4-0.
The JV remained endefeated by winning over Williamsville North JV 4-1. Derek Aichinger and Mike Sarcinelli each scored 2 goals and added 2 assists. Sarcinelli's first goal was his 5th shorthanded goal of the year and gave East a 2-1 lead late in the second period. East outshot North 26-14 as Robert Vermilye was there again to make the key saves when his team needed them.

JV OVER ST. JOES MAROON 3-0
Robert Vermilye stopped all 31 shots he faced to lead the JV over St.Joes Maroon 3-0. Derek Aichinger scored 2 powerplay goals early in the first period and Ryan Shaw added a shorthanded goal early in the third period. East was outshot 31-15,as Vermilye made several key stops to earn the shutout. East now has 12 powerplay goals and 10 shorthanded goals this season. Marc Bezbatchenko had 2 assists in the win.

Hamburg Edges East Varsity On Late Goal
Hamburg came back from a 3-1 deficit to edge East 4-3. A deflected goal with 2 minutes left from 10' out was the winner. Earlier East built a 3-1 lead on goals by James Faran, Dan Feldman, and Ryan Schmelzer.

East varsity won their last 2 games over St.Francis 3-2 and Timon 7-2. East JV won a non league game over North Tonawanda JV 2-1 and a league game over Niagara Falls 6-4.

VARSITY TIES AMHERST JV EDGES KENMORE WEST
James Faran scored 2 goals to as the varsity tied Amherst 3-3. The team does not play again until Feb.5 against Kenmore East. Meanwhile, the JV squad remained undefeated as they edged Kenmore West JV 3-1. Goals were scored by Luke Sokolowski late in the 2nd period and the winner was scored with just over 5 minutes left by Jordan Leising. Mike Sarcinelli's 20th of the season in league play was the insurance tally with 1:19 left in the game. Robert Vermilye stopped 15 of 16 shots to post the win.

JV RALLIES FOR TIE-- SARCINELLI SETS GOAL SCORING RECORD
The JV squad earned a 3-3 tie with St,Joe's White by scoring 3 goals inthe final period. Mike Sarcinelli scored with 1:18 left in the game to earn the tie. It was his 2nd of the game and 22nd of the year in league play. Sarcinelli now has established a new JV single season goal scoring record in NFJV play. The record was held by Nick Bordonaro which he set last year. Brandon Vujcec scored a powerplay goal early in the final period to tie the score at 1-1. SJW scored 2 late powerplay goals to briefly lead 3-2 before Sarcinelli tied the game. Cole Weppner added 3 assists as the team played with only 4 defenseman for the entire game due to travel team commitments. Robert Vermilye stopped 25 of 28 shots for East.

VARSITY TIES KENMORE EAST/ JV SHUTOUT BY CANISIUS
East varsity tied Kenmore East 1-1 on Thursday. Earlier in the week, JV was shutout 9-0 by undefeated Canisius. It was the first league loss for the JV team this season. Their league record is now 12-1-2 and they are 1 point away from clinching at least the 2nd seed overall.

VARSITY WINS FIRST GAME OF ALEXANDRIA BAY TOURNEY
James Faran scored twice to lead the varsity to a 5-1 win over Sec.III IHC-Catholic. East will play in the championship Saturday at 3 PM

VARSITY WINS ALEX BAY TOURNEY/// JV SUFFERS 2ND LOSS
Billy Gaffney scored late in the final period assisted by Peter Elliott to defeat Thousand Islands 4-3 and win the Alexandria Bay Memorial Tournament. East had three players neamed to the all-tournament team: Forwards Nick Bordonaro and James Faran and Defenseman Max Fogel.
East JV suffered its second consecutive loss in league play by a 3-1 score to Niagara Wheatfield JV. Ryan Shaw scored the lone goal on the powerplay off a nifty pass from Nick Kowalski to pull East within a goal 2-1 late in the 2nd period. NW scored an empty net goal with 6 seconds left to clinch the win. East stills need just 1 point or a St Joes Maroon loss or tie to clinch the 2nd seed for the NFJV playoffs.

JV WINS OVER TIMON
East JV closed out the regular season getting back on the winning track with a 7-3 win over Timon. Derek Aichinger, Mike Sarcinelli, and Cole Weppner each scored 2 goals and Jordan leising netted the other. The players voted Cole Weppner an assistant captain position for the playoffs. The 1st round playoff game against either Amherst or Niagara Falls will be on 2/22 at 12;40 PM. Last week Kenmore EastJV rallied for a 6-4 win over East JV.

VARSITY PLAYS HAMBURG IN PLAYOFFS
After losing their final two regular season games to West Seneca East and Williamsville South, East will play Hamburg onSat. Feb. 21 at 5 PM in the quarter finals.

VARSITY WINS IN DOUBLE OT/// JV WINS THEIR PLAYOFF OPENER 14-1
East's Sean Mahon scored early in the 2nd OT period to give East a 4-3 win over Hamburg. East will now play Kenmore East in the semi finals on Thurs. 2/26 at 7 PM. Nick Bordonaro scored 2 goals and Jake Lewis got the win in goal.
East JV was led by 4 goals and 4 assists from Mike Sarcinelli and 3 goals and 3 assists from Luke Sokolowski. East led 7-0 after a period enroute to the 14-1 win over Amherst. Cole Weppner and Brendan Vujcec each scored 2 goals and Robert Vermilye,Brendan Hess, and Ricky Bress each worked a period in goal. East plays their quarter final game on wednesday 2/25 at 7 PM.

VARSITY & JV UPDATE
East varsity lost in triple OT to top seed Kenmore East 2-1 on a controversial deciding goal. Eric Esposito (Joey Cantafio-Max Fogel) scored the lone goal,short handed, for East. Cullen Hensley stopped 34 of 36 shots in goal. Six varsity players are graduating this year- Fogel, James Faran, Mike Smith,Chris Pettis, Simon Fedak,and Jake Lewis.
The JV team defeated Kenmore East JV 3-1 in a quarter final game. Mike Sarcinelli scored 2 goals and Cole Weppner added one goal. Robert Vermilye stopped 24 of 25 Ken East shots. East JV lost in the semi-finals to Williamsville North JV 3-1. Sarcinelli scored the lone goal which tied the game late in the 2nd period. North scored the winner late in the final period and added an empty net goal to clinch the win.
