NORTH JV EDGES EAST JV 5-4
A late 3rd period powerplay goal by Williamsville North was the difference in a hard fought 5-4 loss.East led 3-2 after 2 periods but a costly 5 on 3 disadvantage in the final period was the difference. For East, Eric Esposito scored his 2 nd shorthanded goal of the year, James Faran added 2 goals giving him 8 for the season, and Dan Feldman scored on a breakaway his 3rd of the year.Simon Fedak added his team high 8th assist of the year. Before the game James Faran was appointed an assistant captain.

JV Non League Games Added to Schedule
The JV schedule has been changed to the following: The practice scheduled for Feb. 2 has been changed to a non league game same time and location. We have added a non league game on Friday Feb. 23 at 9 PM at the Lafayette Rink in North Buffalo. Both games are against a Tonawanda Griffs midget team.

VARSITY POSTS SHUTOUT WIN OVER AMHERST
Jay Hall stopped 13 shots as he led the varsity to a 4-0 win over Amherst. Hall now has a 1.13 GAA and 4-1 won /loss record in Fed play.Eric Charlton scored twice giving him 12 goals in Fed play this season.

East JV Grand Island JV Play 0-0 Tie
Quick JV Niagara Falls Blizzard Tournament update. The first game against Hartland,MI Prep JV ended in 4-0 defeat. The evening game against Grand Island JV ended in a well played 0-0 tie. Jake Lewis was in goal for both games and was outstanding. The Grand Island game was a great effort by all. The team has 3 points out of a possible 10 based on a point per period won and 2 points for a win. The third game of the tournament was cancelled due to a power outage at Hockey Outlet. Even with a 5 point win,East would be a half point short of getting into the championship game if Hartland Prep lost all 5 points.

JV Over Amherst 5-3
Dan Feldman led the offense with 2 goals and 2 assists as the JV won their 3rd league game in the past 5 played. James Faran,Simon Fedak, and Nick Bordonaro also scored in the game. Faran added 2 assists as well. Robert Vermilye (his first win)got the win in goal working the first 2 periods, Jake Lewis worked the final period.
REMINDER TO ALL JV PLAYERS: Team and individual pictures Sunday Jan. 21 at 3 PM at the start of practice. Players should bring both jerseys to practice. Picture envelopes will be handed out at Friday's practice.

Varsity Plays 1-1 Tie JV Defeated by Ken West
The varsity played to a 1-1 tie as Matt Bradley played outstanding in goal. For the JV, Eric Esposito and Dan Feldman scored early in the third periood to tie the score at 2-2 but 2 late goals by Kenmore West 26 seconds apart wwre the difference in a tough 4-2 loss.

A non-league game against Batavia has been added to the varsity schedule. The game is at the Amherst Pepsi Center on Friday Feb. 2 at 3 PM. HeVolunteer help is needed for scorers table,penalty box, gate collections. Contact Joe Guadagnino if you can assist.

VARSITY LOSES TO NORTH JV SHUTOUT BY LANCASTER JV
Williamsville North scored a third period goal to edge the varsity 2-1. Justin Floss scored on a back-hander midway thru the second period to tie the score at 1-1.Matt Bradley was in goal for East. In the JV game, Lancaster scored the first goal late in the second period and added an insurance goal on the powerplay late in the third period as they shutout East JV 2-0.Jake Lewis made several key stops as he saved 23 of 25 Lancaster shots.

The East hockey seniors will be honored along with their parents at the game against Kenmore West on Saturday Feb.10 at 3 PM. All parents of senior players are encouraged to attend the on-ice recognition of your son's accomplishments during his East hockey career!

Miscellaneous Notes
Eric Charlton is 6th in the Federation in scoring with 12 goals-7assists-19 points. Anthony Clair is also tied for 6th (6-13-19),Kyle Smith is 11th (5-12-17), Spencer Barrett (9-6-15) and Chris Fabozzi (9-6-15) are tied for 14th. Matt Bradley (1.35 goals against average) and Jay Hall (1.43 GAA) both are in the top 5 in goaltending. The varsity will play Frontier on Tues Feb.13 in the first round of the Federation playoffs at 7 PM at the Amherst Pepsi Center.

The East varsity behind the shutout goaltending of Steven Bukolt edged Batavia 1-0 in a non league game. The JV team defeated the Tonawanda Griffs midget team 6-3.

VARSITY EDGES LANCASTER 3-1 JV LOSE TO ST JOES
East varsity defeated Lancaster 3-1 as Eric Charlton scored the game winner and Jay Hall allowed just the one goal. Anthony Clair scored into an empty net to ice the win. The JV blew a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2 to St.Joes Maroon. James Faran and Simon Fedak each had a goal and assist.

JV Trounces Amherst Midget Mohl 7-1
Seven different players scored to lead the JV over an Amherst Midget Mhol team 7-1. Mike Esposito, Eric Esposito,James Faran,Ryan Newell,and Greg Davis each had a goal and assist.Joey Cantafio had a goal and 2 assists and Simon Fedak added a goal to complete the scoring.Robert Vermilye stopped 14 of 15 shots in goal allowing only a powerplay goal in the last minute of the game.

VARSITY OVER ST. JOE'S 5-3 JV SHUTOUT
The varsity defeated St. Joe's 5-3 as Jon Toole scored the game winner. Jay Hall and Matt Bradley shared the duties in goal. Meanwhile, the JV was soundly defeated by Kenmore East 10-0 with not a single highlight to report.

VARSITY RALLY FALLS SHORT
East varsity third period rally fell just short in a 7-5 loss to Kenmore West. An empty net goal by Ken west clinched this game despite a 3 goal hat trick from senior Anthony Clair.

VARSITY OVER FRONTIER IN FED PLAYOOFF GAME
A powerplay goal by Eric Charlton early in the final period broke a 2-2 tie and proved to be the winner as East beat Frontier 4-2. Kyle Smith scored unassisted late in the period to ice the game and move East to the quarter finals against Lancaster Sat. Feb. 17 at 4 PM at APC. Matt Bradley was strong in goal for the Flames. An East win over Lancaster would put the team into a semi-final game against St.Joes on Sunday at Buffalo State.

Mike Esposito scored the 3 goal hat trick to lead the JV to a 5-2 win over Williamsville South JV. Joey Cantafio and Mark Varin also scored and Eric Esposito and Simon Fedak both had 2 assists. Robert Vermilye got the win in goal as East outshot South 33-9 in the game.

Lancaster scored 2:30 into OT to defeat East varsity 1-0 and putting a close to the varsity season for 06-07. Matt Bradley saved 24 of 25 shots.

The JV ws tied by the Tonawnada Griffs in a non league game tune up for the playoffs.Jake Lewis was very strong in goal especially in the first period as he stopped 13 of 14 shots in that period. Simon Fedak and James Faran scored for the JV and Mike Esposito added 2 assists.

NORTH JV ENDS EAST'S JV SEASON
Williamsville North JV shutout East JV 3-0 to win in the opening round of the playoffs and end the JV season. The teams played to a scoreless opening period with North outshooting East 8-6. North scored a shorthanded goal early in the 2nd period and 2 minutes later added another to take a 2-0 lead after 2 periods. In the 3rd period another early goal put East in a 3-0 hole. East outshot North in the 3rd 10-7. North did outshoot East 23-30 in the game. Jake Lewis once again strong in goal and the team received a strong effort from everyone as they have throughout the year.

Ross & Clair Honored -see update
The New York State High School Hockey Coaches have named Andrew Ross ( Defense)and Anthony Clair(Forward) to the Division 2 honorable mention all state team. Congtaulations to these varsity seniors on their selections.
UPDATE- The WNY Federation has listed its all stars for the 2006 -2007 season. East has placed Andrew Ross on the second team All-Fed team on defense. Anthony Clair has been named to the small school first team as a forward. Kyle Smith was named to the small school second team as a forward.

JV TRYOUT DATES
The JV tryout dates have been finalized. There will be three sessions for a total of four hours. The tryouts will be on Sat. Oct. 28 at 7 -8 PM, Sunday Oct. 29 at 4-5 PM, and on Saturday Nov. 4 at 5 -7 PM. There will also be an important parents meeting for tryout participants before the tryouts begin. More info on this will be posted in the near future.

VARSITY PLAYERS MEETING, TRYOUT AND EARLY PRACTICE DATES ADDED
There will be an important players meeting on Monday October 30 at 3 PM in the school commons. Coach Torrillo urges all players trying out to make sure their trifold from the Nurse's office are filled in completely AND SIGNED. Coach will also be handing out the schedules at this time. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. The first few dates have been added to the varsity schedule. When the finalized game and practice schedule is received it will be added as well. CHIAVETTAS BBQ CHICKEN DINNER & BAKE SALE
The annual East Hockey Program Chiavettas BBQ Chicken Dinner & Bake Sale fund raiser will be held on Thursday Nov. 16 from 3:15 to 6:15 PM in the East High School commons. All Varsity & JV players will be given 12 tickets to sell. Also Mr. Guadagnino is requesting as much help from the parents as possible. Baked goods donations and help preparing and serving the dinners will be needed. Please help to make this another successful fund raiser. As always Mr. Guad and both the staffs from the varsity and JV appreciates your help!

JV PRACTICE CHANGED TO SCRIMMAGE GAME
The JV practice on Sunday Nov. 19 at 4:20 PM has been changed to a scrimmage game against Grand Island JV team at the same time and rink. . All players should wear their practice jerseys for this game. This will be our first actual game conditions with referees of the season. Grand Island is usually a very good team so JV guys should be ready for a tough test.

CHAIVETTA CHICKEN FUNDRAISER ANOTHER SUCCESS!!
The entire varsity and JV staff of East hockey wishes to thank all parents, helpers, baked goods sellers & bakers,and the JV players who helped out serving dinners on another successful fundraising event. The final count has not been tabulated yet but we did sell close to 1100 chicken dinners. Again, thanks to all who helped, your efforts are truly appreciated!!

VARSITY TIES MCQUAID & BEATS SARATOGA IN ST. JOES TOURNEY
The East varsity tied McQuaid (Sec.V) 3-3 on Friday and defeated Saratoga (Sec.II) 8-2 on Saturday in the St.Joe's Tournament. Anthony Clair notched a 3 goal hat trick in the game as East came in 2nd place in the tournament.Matt Bradley was in goal for both games.

EAST JV LOSES TO KENMORE WEST JV
Kenmore West JV edged the East JV 4-2 Saturday evening in a non-league game.. Ken West scored the winning goal early in the 3rd period on a deflection and then added an empty net goal in the last minute of play. East scored both goals on power plays by Mike Esposito and James Faran in the 1st period. Before the game Head Coach Pat Annese announced the team captains for 06 -07 season. Mike Esposito was named captain and Matt Foster and Simon Fedak were named assistant captains.

VARSITY OPENS SEASON WITH SHUTOUT 10-0
Kyle Smith scored 2 goals and 8 other players added a goal as East opened the Fed season with a 10-0 win over Amherst. The other goal scorers wereEric Charlton, Spencer Barrett (short handed),Anthony Clair, Chris Fabozzi, Mike DeStefano,Jamie Turchiarelli (short handed),Jon Toole, and Jon Gambacorta. Matt Bradley earned his 1st Fed shutout in goal. Also notching their first Fed points were:Gambacorta, Kyle Murray, and Alex Rogers. East scored 4 power play goals and 2 shorthanded goals as they outshot Amherst 21-9.

JV LOSES LEAGUE OPENER
The JV squad was defeated 6-3 by St.Joes Maroon on Monday. The score was 4-3 ST. Joes late in the game before East gave up 2 empty net goals. For East-Michael Esposito, Joey Cantafio, and Simon Fedak were the goal scorers. Robert Vermilye made his first JV start in goal and made several great saves to keep East in the game. The game was much closer than the final score as it was 1-1 after 1 period and 2-2 after 2 periods. St.Joe's outshot East 25-17.

VARSITY & JV POST WINS
East hockey won a pair of games Saturday. The varsity defeated St.Francis 7-1 on the Olympic rink. Goal scorers were Spencer Barrett,Kyle Smith, Chris Fabozzi,Anthony Clair,Mike DeStefano, and Eric Charlton netted a pair. Charlton's second goal was short handed into an empty net. Matt Bradley got the win in goal playing the first and second periods and Jay Hall played the third and allowed a power play goal. East led 2-0 after th efirst period and 5-0 after 2 periods. The varsity now is 3-0 in Fed play and have allowed only 2 goals.

EAST HOCKEY PARENTS HOLIDAY PARTY
The East hockey holiday party for parents will be held on Sunday December 17 at 6 PM at the East Amherst Fire Hall #1 at 9100 Transit Rd. All parents from both teams are welcome. Chefs Nick Fabozzi and Joe Guadagnino Jr will be working their magic again in the kitchen. Those attending are asked to park in the lot across the street off Muegel Rd.

The varsity defeated Timon on Sunday 6-1 to remain unbeaten in Federation League games. Eric Charleton scored 2 goals for the second straight game and Spencer Barrett also added a pair. Matt Bradley got the win in goal as he made 27 saves.

Ken West JV Trounces East JV 6-2
Kenmore West JV trounced the JV 6-2. After a scoreless and evenly played 1st period, Ken West jumped to a 3-2 lead after 2 periods. East got goals from James Faran and Simon Fedak. In the third period, numerous defensive lapses lead to 3 unanswered Ken West goals. East was outshot 23-16 in the game.

Rochester JV Shootout Tourn Dates & Times
The Rochester JV Shootout Tournament Dates & Times are listed in the JV game schedule. JV has a game on 12/28, 2 games on 12/29 and depending on how we do games on Sat 12/30 at 11 AM, 1 PM for semi finals and 3PM for consolation game. The finals are at 7:30 PM. There are now six teams in the tournament.

VARSITY REMAINS UNDEFEATED
East varsity defeated Kenmore East on Thursday evening 7-1. Anthony Clair and Spencer Barrett each scored 2 goals and Jay Hall got the win in goal.East remains in first place in the Federation with a record of 5-0-0.

Canisius Rallies to Beat JV 5-2
Canisius came from a 2-0 deficit midway thru the game to beat the JV 5-2. East led 2-0 before Canisius tied the score in the later part of the 2 nd period.James Faran scored both East goals and Simon Fedak added 2 assists with Richy Qaio also earning an assist. Canisius scored 3 times in just over 3 minutes late in the final period to earn the win.

JV Shutout by North
The JV played came up short in a well played game against Williamsville North JV 2-0. Jake Lewis was excellent in goal stopping 27 of 29 shots. North scored once on the powerplay and then from a scramble in the goalmouth. East rang 2 shots off the post and one off the crossbar.

THANKS TO THE CHEF!!
Everyone with East hockey hockey thanks Chef Nick Fabozzi as well as Jean Fabozzi for the excellent dinner at the team's holiday party for the parents. It was the best attended event in the 3 year history of what is now another great tradition for Williamsville East hockey. Thanks to everyone for bringing a dish to share.

SWEET HOME DEFEATS VARSITY 4-2
In a game between unbeaten teams,Sweet Home came out on top 4-2. East received goals from Eric Charlton and Colin Lucey as they came back from a 2-0 deficit to tie after 2 periods. Chris Fabozzi made a nifty pass on Lucey's goal. Sweet Home scored the winner midway thru the final period and added the insurance goal a few minutes later.

EAST BEATS NEW HARTFORD 4-1/LOSE TO BATAVIA IN FINAL
East varsity defeated Sec. III New Hartford 4-1 and will play Batavia for the championship today. Batavia defeated East varsity 3-2 to win the tournament. East outshot Batavia 38-7.

Williamsville North JV beat East JV 7-1 in a non league game. Matt Foster playing a forward position on the power play scored the only goal from Eric Esposito andSimon Fedak.

GREECE TOURNAMENT
The varsity lost to Greece 4-1 on Wednesday. They played Irondequoit in the consolation game. Jay Hall shutout Irondequoit 3-0 as East won the consolation game.

ROCHESTER JV SHOOTOUT TOURNAMENT
The JV lost to McQuaid JV 4-3 in the first game of the tournament. McQuaid battled back from a 3-0 deficit for the win. The JV goal scorers were Joey Cantafio,James Faran, and Dan Feldman. Jake Lewis was superb in igoal stopping 32 of 36 shots. East killed off 8 of 9 McQuaid powerplay opportunities while going 0 for 2 on the powerplay!
On Friday, the JV lost the afternoon game 6-2 to Fairport JV. Simon Fedak and Joey Cantafio scored the goals. Robert Vermilye (period 1 & 2) and Jake Lewis were in goal. In the evening game Pittsford JV won 3-1. East's goal was scord by Matt Foster on the powerplay. By virtue of tie breaker East finished second in Div. B and will play Webster JV at 1 PM Saturday.
Webster JV defeated East JV 6-1 in the semi-finals. Zach Silverberg scored for East assisted by James Faran. Faran was named the team's tournament MVP.
The tournament was a great learning experience for the JV players as they played the Rochester area elite high school hockey programs.All four team's schools are considered Div.1 large school programs.

JV BLIZZARD TOURN SCHEDULE POSTED
The JV tournament game schedule has been added to the schedule section. JV games are Sat. Jan. 13 at 9:30 AM and at 7:55 PM both at Hyde Park. Monday Jan.15 at 11:30AM at Hockey Outlet. The championship game will be Monday at 4 PM at Hyde Park. The tournament games are scored on the 5 point/game basis. Teams receive a point for each period won and 2 points for a win. VARSITY AND JV POST SHUTOUT WINS
Both the East varsity & JV teams posted shutout wins. Jay Hall stopped all 15 shots as the varsity beat St.Francis 4-0. Jake Lewis stopped the 4 shots he faced as the JV beat St.Joe's White 3-0. For the varsity, Eric Charlton scored 2 goals and added 2 assists while Anthony Clair scored a goal and had 2 assists. Chris Fabozzi netted the other goal. The JV got 2 goals from James Faran (one shorthanded) and Nicholas Bordonaro added the third goal.

JV WINS SECOND STRAIGHT LEAGUE GAME
The JV defeated Timon 5-3 for their 2nd straight league and 3rd straight win overall. The team beat an Amherst Midget team 7-1 Sunday in a non league game. In that game Mike Esposito scored 2 goals and an assist,Simon Fedak scored a goal and added 4 assists and Joey Cantafio added a pair of assists. Jake Lewis and Robert Vermilye shared the goaltending duties. In the Timon game, Nick Bordonaro's second goal of the game proved to be the winner. Other goal scorers were James Faran, Dan Feldman and Simon Fedak. Fedak also added 2 assists. Jake Lewis got the win in goal.
