Welcome back to all our returning families and welcome to Wildomar Little League to all our new families. We are very happy and excited this year to welcome our inaugural girl’s softball program. We have all learned a lot so far about how different the rules are and want to give a BIG thank you to Jim Forrest, Todd Bresciani and Richard Fields for joining our BOD and taking on running the girls softball side for us. If you have a chance please go catch a game or two over at Marna O’Brien park. They would like to see you over there showing your support for our new program. I would also like to welcome our other new board members this year that have been hard at work since October 2008 making our season run as smooth as possible. I’m sure by now they are all saying “WHAT WAS I THINKING” but have done a great job making this a successful season for all. Now for some reminders to kick off our season. Please NO PARKING along the south side fence up by the upper field. This area is reserved for Handicap, our elderly fans and coaches (that have to unload all their equipment for the games). This has become a serious problem especially on weekends blocking our emergency access to the playing fields. We have already had one injury this year at TVLL and a ambulance had to pick up one of our players on the field with a blown out knee. Not only that we have had one broken windshield (3 last year) and 4 dented vehicles behind the top field. Remember these are 12 year old players and they hit a lot of home runs. The next issue we have this year is trash on the ground at your fields. PLEASE remember these are your fields, (Welch park & Marna O’Brien) so lets all pitch in and keep them clean and set an example for our players. Marna O’Brien is taken care of by the county but Welch park is totally taken care of and maintained by volunteers only. We spend a lot of our spare time cleaning, mowing, repairing sprinklers, painting graffiti, and the worst thing for me is having to pick up trash on Sunday after the games on Saturday. Please remember we lease this property from the Wildomar Cemetery District so they expect us to keep it clean. Sorry for the downer to start off the season but with everyone’s help we can make this season the most successful ever for “The Kids” of our league and that’s why we are all here and enjoy doing this so much, “It’s for the KIDS”. Have a great week and I hope every hit is a home run. Tim Underdown, WLL PREZ

Hello all, well here we are at the half way point already. I can’t believe it, it has gone by so fast before we know it the season will be over. This week I have good news and bad news. First the good news. Congratulations are in order for the AAA Yankees managed by Tony Gauf for winning the first half and for the AA Yankees managed by Dave Wiese for also winning the first half. The Major Rays managed by Larry Lee and the Major Angels managed by Jeff Robinson ended up tied for the first half and will battle it out Wildomar style at the end of regular season to determine a winner. The Junior Cubs Managed by Shawn Savage won the first half by default since they are the only Junior team so they are locked in for TOC. They are doing very well against LELL, TVLL and CLLL in their division so congratulations are in order for them also. Now let’s talk about “STORM DAY” as most of you know we do a tailgate party in the parking lot before the game and a good time was had by all (as far as I know). Every year I cruise the different BBQ’s and parties and determine the best BBQ and team participation party. This year’s winner for best BBQ goes to the AAA Dodgers managed by Mike Harding for the great carne asada and chicken he had grilling on the BBQ. The winner of the best tailgate party goes to the AA Angels managed by Marty Rodriguez for more reasons than one and those that were there know what I am talking about. Congratulations to both teams for winning. As far as the game went the Storm lost but it was a great game but the players had a great time parading on the field before the game. We would like to give a BIG thank you to Daniel Ivancich who sold the most (5 boxes) in the fundraiser and took the honor of throwing in the first pitch for the game and it was a strike making our league very proud. We would also like to thank Mathew Ivencich, Sarah LeMeur, Joshua Declue, Seth Dugan, Paul Rodriguez, Blake Harding, Carley Rohlmeier, Adam Pikulski and Nathan Pikulski who all sold more than 1 box and took the field with the players for the national anthem. Now the bad news. We would like to thank all who participated in our fundraiser to keep our league fees down and keep our grass green making our fields at Welch park the best fields to play on in the southwest county and for keeping the lights bright at Marna O’Brien for our inaugural softball season. The bad news is we have some that chose NOT to participate and turned in our fundraiser choosing NOT to support your league. That left us with 24 boxes of beef sticks ($2,400.00) left unsold. Our wonderful Treasurer Chrissy Rohlmeier has come up with the idea of setting up a weekend for us to sit in front of a couple of stores and sell what we can to recover for those who chose NOT to support your league. Any ideas or suggestions at this point would be greatly appreciated so we can recover this money and keep our league fees down for next year. Please see myself or Chrissy at the field if you can help us out with this so we can all pull together for those that chose not to so we can keep our league one of the best ever and show that we support our players and your league “FOR THE KIDS” of Wildomar Little League. Thanks for your support and I will see you all at the fields and hope every hit is a home run. Tim Underdown, WLL Prez

Hi again all, This week we would like to apologize for not getting the newsletter out every week like in previous years but things have been so busy this year and we are trying to cut cost’s like everyone else in this economy. The first thing I have this week is that I have an offer to make to all. Last year I was able to announce more games than this year and am sorry but I have been so busy with keeping the snack shack open for business and working the grill on Saturday’s I haven’t had time to announce games so here is my proposal to everyone. If your team can provide two parents during your game 30min before (so I can set up) until the game ends to run the snack shack and work the grill I will announce your game. The players love to hear their name announced and enjoy the music between innings and that is why we are all hear right? “FOR THE KIDS”. This offer is good for ALL divisions even T-Ball. PLEASE let me know ahead of time so I can prepare to do your game. The next thing I have is I have had a lot of questions about when trophies will be available and about closing day so here is your answer. Closing day will be May 30th starting at 11:00AM and this is when the trophies will be available to pick up. The manager (or team parent) turns in the gear that was provided by the league at the beginning of the season and we issue the trophies, it’s that simple. Please remember that the trophies for players that have any UNPAID league fees due will be held back until paid in full unless arrangements have been made with the league. Sorry for the inconvenience of us having to do this but please remember that Welch park is yours (Not the Cities) and it is NOT cheap to maintain even though all the labor to keep the park going is done by volunteers. The day will start off with play-off games for the AAA and the major divisions starting at 8:00AM so please plan on coming early to enjoy these games before the fun begins. The fun being that the league will provide a Jumpy and a water slide for our younger players (T-Ball – AA) and we are planning to have our inaugural home run derby (with trophies for the winner) for the older players (AAA and Majors) so bring your ez-ups, picnic baskets and plan on spending the day at Welch park. (ez-ups on top field only and please NO stakes because of sprinkler pipes). The last thing I have for this week is WLL NEEDS YOU!!!! Closing day is also the day we hold our elections for the board of directors for the 2010 spring season. Our election committee (Ken Pikulski, Chrissy Rohlmeier and Irma Villanueva) are hard at work preparing for the elections. If you are interested in making a difference for our league and “THE KIDS” please add your name to the list at the snack shack to run for being a board member. Welch Park and Wildomar Little League would NOT be here if it wasn’t for the many dedicated volunteers from Board members, Managers, Coaches, Team Parents all the parents that are dedicated to making a difference in their community. I know that being a homemaker, having to work and the many of us that have to commute our time spent at home with family is golden but if everyone could dedicate (volunteer) an hour each week I know that we would have the best league in District 28. I myself am fortunate that my children are older now (22 and 17) and can spend the time with our community that has given my family so much in the 20 years that we have called Wildomar home. If you have any questions about how much time or what is needed to improve your league PLEASE don’t hesitate to stop me at the field and ask any questions you might have. That’s all for this week and good luck to all the teams on winning your games. WLL Prez, Tim underdown
