Wildcats Hockey: Welcome
Friday, October 30Apologies for not writing thus far this season.
But......... after the episode which was todays game, I thought.... why not.
Sunday afternoon the boyz took to the rink in Carberry to take on the visiting divisional rival Souris Sabres. Did I say DIVISION RIVAL?? Thought so.... so you should be fired up for this one.. right??? Guess what, the game started out like sooooooo many other games this year so far. BAD... I think they scored their first goal within the 1st MINUTE of the game. And it got alot worse before it got any better. 3 - ZIP was the score at the end of the 1st.
The Sabres jumped out to an very nice 5 - NOTHING lead before the 2nd period was 1/2 done. It was at this point that MJ replaced KJ in the pipes. The Wildcats did finally manage to muster one past their tender before the end of the 2nd. The score at the end of the 2nd was just that 5 to 1.
Believe it or not??? The 2nd period was actually better than the 1st!!!
What would the 3rd period bring????? WELL..... it almost looked like the boyz realized that we were actually playing hockey this afternoon. We came out with a little jump and closed the gap to 5 - 2, then 5 - 3, then 5 - 4, but that was as close as we were going to get. The Wildcats had quite a few chances to even up the game, but the bounces just didn't go our way today. The Sabres would add a late empty netter to make the final score 6 - 4.
Thanks to the fans that stuck around long enough to watch some hockey in the 3rd period!!!!
The Catz will now take another couple weeks off to practice. Our next action will not be until December 5th when we travel to Hamiota for a Saturday night game at 8:30 pm.

In 2007-08 we did better. 253 entries and a 1st prize of $890.
In 2008-09 it got bigger. 278 drafts sold. 1st prize of $950.
The 2009-10 Drafts are now in. 310 drafts sold. 1st prize of $1 038.
The WILDCATS HOCKEY TEAM would like to thank all those that made the past and present drafts such a success.
