When I was nine
I got my first glove
My dad bought me a softball
And I fell in love
I sat on the pitching mound
Squinting into the sun
Realizing that now
My life had begun
I am the speed of the softball
The dirt in my cleats
A collision at home plate
Fans jumping from seats
I am a slide into 3rd
The loudest voice heard
I'm the outfield
And infield
The umpire
And coach
