Wiff King: Welcome

Wiff King Trophy
Wiff King 2010

CONGRATULATIONS TO POWER STROKE - 2010 WIFF KING CHAMPIONS!!!

The Wiff King Tournament originated in 1994 and has continued since, with the exception of 2 years. In 1997 the new/current field was under construction and in 2001 the tournament was cancelled due to the death of Mary Knox, the matriarch of the Knox Family and the Coach and General manager of the Brew Dogs (one of the original teams).

From 1994 to 1996 the tournament took place at Foster Street in Littleton, MA. The original ball park had a center field distance of 106' and a interesting overhanging deck.

The tournament is now played at Deer Path Fields, located at the Knox's Brandy Hollow Compound in Littleton. The main field is lighted, has two "Green Monsters", and is 84' down each line and 97' in deep left center. Due to increased interest and additional games a new "temporary" field was added in 2003. Steve Jahnle and Joe Knox of the Grounds Crew installed a field with a left field pole at 85' dropping to 90' until right center where it "juts" in to 77' for a small portion and then drop back to 85' to the right field pole. This field is only in service if the tournament exceeds 10 teams.

The Wiff King is original in style and rules and teams from the previous year's competition can suggest rules to the committee for review. All hits are "run out", the pitcher's speed must be moderate with no called balls or strikes and a time limit is set for each game in the opening round.

The 2010 winner of the Tournament was Power Stroke and their name has been placed on the Wiff King Cup which they will hold until this year's Tournament.
