Wisconsin District 4 Little League: District 4 Tournament History

Majors Division

Wisconsin's first Majors team was formed in Reedsburg in 1951.  Over the next several years, other teams from around the state joined Reedsburg, and competed against teams from other states to get to the World Series.  The first official Wisconsin Majors state tournament was in 1957, which saw the most successful team in Wisconsin Majors tournament history, Escanaba JC (Michigan), advance all the way to the LL World Series (teams from the upper pennisula of MI were grouped with WI back then).

District 4 was formed in 1959 and covered all of southern WI (including the Milwaukee area).  It wasn't until 1965, that District 4 came to encompass the area as we know it today, when the Milwaukee area formed its own district.  From 1959 to 1981, the WI district champions competed with teams from MI and/or MN in a sectional tournament to determine who advanced to the regional tournament.  Since 1982, WI has had its own state tournament.

Teams advance from state tournaments to the regional tournament in Indianapolis, IN.  The winner advances to the World Series in Williamsport, PA.  The highest honor in this division is winning the World Series.
